What's Your Cumpulsive Purchase Item(s)
I heard on a program the other day, might have been the Daily Buzz, I'm not sure, that a lot of people buy certain items cumpulsively, and may or may not realize that it has reached a cumpulsive
level.

Do you have a cumpulsive need to buy certain products? Not referring to actual necessities like toilet paper but things most people would just consider wants.

With me it is romantic suspense books. I am completely and totally addicted. I have tons I haven't even read yet, still I buy more. Its like I can't stop myself sometimes. I have had to admit it is a cumpulsion.

I swear if there is a hell, my personal one is going to be like that guy in the Twilight Zone, who wished to be alone with millions of books, and then he broke his glasses and couldn't read any.

The only thing I never understood, is why wish to be alone in the world, because you still need authors to write new stuff. ;)

62. I can relate.
I'm collecting a few of my favorite TV series. Those I tend to watch pretty regularly but my movie collection is kind of just sitting there.

2. Fabric

...I have tons of fabric. I have fabric older than my sister. I have fabric that I bought in 1973....brown background with purple elephants.

I have fabric I bought in 1992 (my daughter was 3) for my daughter's wedding gown....if she chooses to get married and wear a gown.

Cheers

Bird books: totally compulsive.

I am at the point now where I have a pretty good library. I've slowed way down on the buying because I am running out of books I want. :P

Still need: China, the Himalayas, eastern Russia, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Birds of the Pacific, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and most of South America (Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela specifically).

I also want the herons handbook, which is out of print and costs a brazillion dollars.

Everywhere else: covered. :D

47. It isn't natural, is it?
I've been shoe-obsessed since I was a young girl. My parents bought us two pairs of shoes a year: one pair of sneakers and one pair of school shoes. I learned to pick them out very carefully. Once I had my own money I think I made up for all those years of having to wear brown mary-janes with skirts, dresses and jeans alike.

Question: since you like your shoes, do you care what shoes a man wears?

57. That's a good question
And you know, I barely notice men's shoes. I do notice when a guy is wearing a particularly nice pair of shoes or boots and I hate the look of a man in flip flops particularly but for the most part, I don't much notice.

I sure notice women's shoes, though. I work in a grocery store in a rich area and I see some of the greatest shoes in there. I admit it - I covet. But it's one of the first things I notice about a woman.

God, I crack myself up.

35. I alternate between a compulsion for shoes, and one for makeup
I generally wear one pair of shoes until they wear out. Right now it's a pair of black synthetic leather New Balance walking shoes. But I have tons of shoes. I tell myself that I won't buy anymore until the ones I have are all worn out....and then I buy another pair.

But right now, I'm in my makeup phase. And I only wear concealer, a little powder and a little blush. Yet, I'm constantly cruising the 'net for new brands, or looking at Walgreen's for something.

The funny thing is that I'm very strict about buying non-leather shoes, and makeup not tested on animals (and no animal ingredients is even better). Yet, even with these restrictions, I keep finding new things to buy.

I'm glad to know others do this. It drives me crazy, but...Hey! Did you know Bare Escentuals is vegan?!

See what I mean?

92. Make-up - thank God I only buy drugstore brands, or I'd be broke
What's funny is that I don't wear makeup all the time, and when I do, I don't wear a lot of it.

I'm convinced there is something that's going to better cover my dark under-eye circles - in constant search for Ultimate Concealer.

As for shoes, I'm fine unless I step into DSW. It's okay in the winter, when shoes are kind of clunky and ugly (I won't wear pointy or closed high-heeled shoes), but once sandals come out (flat, medium or high-heeled), I'm in serious, serious trouble.

55. Books and electronic gadgets.
I can barely move in my house for books, but I'll toss out my furniture if I have to, to make more room.

As for electronics, it's become an obsession. My local Best Buy had a Playstation 3 in stock last week and, although I'd told myself I didn't want or need one, there were no BluRay movies I wanted to see, the game library is crap, etc., the second I knew there was one for the having, my vision grew dim, my plams became sweaty, my heart started to palpate. I had, had, had, had, had to have it.

I'm the same with all new shiny electronic gizmos. Have to have the latest and the greatest. It's a sickness.

79. Mine too!
:hi: From one girly girl to another, that's my main compulsive purchase. It actually pays off for me, though, because I have bought some really great colors and formulas on impulse. I might never have tried them otherwise. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

85. The worst is when I go to my parents house
I pass The Cosmetic Store at one of the outlet malls in Lancaster - they have all the Estee Lauder Brands (which btw is a Blue Company) like Estee Lauder, Clinique, Prescriptives, Bobby Brown, MAC, Stila, Origins and a host of other products

 I have a very, very hard time passing a Sephora store...which is why I'm actually glad I don't live near one. I do, however, have access to Sephora.com.... :yoiks: I went a little crazy with them at Christmas.

You can get it at the Ulta store and it really is light but gives complete coverage. I swear by their Mineral Veil powder!

I like the powder but can't really use it as a foundation. I do use it as a finishing powder, though. Their eye shadows and blushes are really good too!

68. MUNCHKIN!!!!.....And Violin/Fiddle music books
Yup, a totally addictive, cut-throat game of juvenile mentality. I love it! We have like four core boxes to get and like 10 expansion left. I'll be sooo sad when we actually have to wait for them to put out more...Check it out!

http://www.sjgames.com/munchkin/game/

And it never fails, as soon as I step foot in a music store my first and foremost thought is "I wonder what I can afford to justify today?" It's like a junkie reaction when I walk out and have nothing new to add to my collection...lol. I think with the exception of this past Saturday, I've called my husband just to ask if we could afford a new book. Not that I'm lacking in material to work now. ;)

run the laptop from an adapter. It's the only way to sneak them in.

87. Yes, there *is* that initial excitement...
Is my floor going to look like the one in the ad? Is my bathtub going to sparkle now?

Alas, they never do..... But then I just go out and get the next thing I see.

I will recommend the Enviro-steamer floor cleaner for no wax floors. Doesn't work as well on tile, though.

but when I see anything with superman, or the S logo stamped on something, I immediately want to buy the thing...in most cases I usually do get it, unless its really, super lame. I'm that way with dvd movies as well, but usually when they are super cheap...

She spent most of her career as a teacher and she always wanted to have
crayons for the kids. But, years after she retired she kept thinking she
needed some.

They found BOXES and BOXES of crayons stored at her house when she passed on.
