I'm selling my beautiful little home in the desert
Well, I finally have my house on the market. Already have had one couple look at it and call back for more info.

I hate to sell this place, I love it and I have been so happy here. But my husband found a job he loves in another city, so it's bye bye.

Here's the web page for the house with tons of pictures!

2. Nice house, beautiful scenery
That's a good price for that, too.

I'm from Ohio, but I've been out to California on several occasions as I used to be an over-the-road trucker. The desert southwest was one of my favorite places to go. I wish I could buy your house! I'd love it out there.

4. OK, here's a wierd question...
Being in the middle of the desert, do you get a lot of rattlers by your house? I was never so glad to leave Phoenix in my life because I have a deathly fear of snakes.

Is that price right? That's amazing. How can that be?

6. It is a good price
especially if you are used to big city prices.

Sadly, my husband couldn't find a job anywhere in California, but he did get an excellent one in Toronto. It's close to his family, not my family. He has a temporary work permit. We may well be back in California in a couple years if the economy ever improves.

Meanwhile, after we sell this house we will be totally out of debt and have a downpayment for something else.

I do hate to sell it though.

I've only seen one snake here, and it wasn't a rattler.

7. I'm used to desert critters.
What's the nearest city? How long of a commute? I already emailed the link to my husband.

9. Palm springs is an hour away
Maybe more, depends on how fast you drive! Indio is smaller, but also close. It's about 3.5 hours away from LA, San Diego and Vegas.

8. Nice place
You'll like Toronto. It's a very civilized and cosmopolitan city.

I have the money and have half a mind to write out the check right now! But I'd be awfully lonely out there by myself.

14. I'm enjoying the solitude
I'm kind of nervous to be amongst humans again. All the people I see now are the people at the post office when I mail my art.

13. $69k for 1150sf and 5 acres?
Whoa! Living in Denver has totally skewed my view of how much houses cost. $69k will maybe buy you a crappy 1 br condo here in Denver. My cheaply constructed townhouse cost $160k and I have no yard and no garage. I think I could live in the desert if it was within 10 miles of civilization.

23. This house is a real deal
That price is only good for the next month, as I'm going to list it with an agent if it doesn't sell, and the price will go up to compensate for the commission.

18. I'll miss the desert
My husband had been out of work for over a year when he got this job. We really thought he would be able to get something in LA.

I think I will still keep doing the desert paintings, I have 1,000,000,000 photos for reference.

Here's the painting. I painted it from real life!

24. Very nice
house and beautiful scenery, as a fellow Californian I also know how hard it must be to leave. You're lucky though because you are going to a whole new country and will be away from all the crap here.

26. This reminds me a lot of my grandmother's house
in Joshua Tree. My step-grandfather bought 5 acres in the 1960's for almost nothing. There was already a "cabin" on it (no running water, no electricity, no pluming, etc.) They gradually made improvements, built on and right before he retired, they finished it off.

27. It looks like home.
So much like home that I'm homesick.

I lived for 12 years in a neighborhood just like that, but an hour or two west of you. Except that the house was a disaster; an old homestead shack that had been haphazardly added onto a few times. We worked hard making it livable on a tight budget, but it was never done. It didn't matter. I loved it. I loved the wide open spaces and the total solitude. I didn't leave willingly, and I've never acclimated to living "in town." Even though my place in town has empty space on 2 sides, it's not the same.

I can't move to Amboy; too far from my job. But if I could, I would!

Good fortune with your sale, and happy trails to your new home.
