Is anyone else experiencing outrage overload?
The final straw for me was Newsweek publishing the crucial chapter from OJ Simpson's recalled book.

I have fucking had enough.

1. Yo!
Seems there is an endless parade of things to be outraged over. I usually read a number of websites every day, but I, too, am on overload and can't focus on the things I'm trying to read. I think my mind is saying, "Back away from the bad stuff, take a break!"

5. Me either.
Mostly I'm hanging out in the Lounge, watching non-news TV, and playing computer games.

12. My dad died in January (30 years ago the 26th)
and my uncle (his younger brother) died just last week.

January is just weird for me.

17. I am sorry to hear that
I was diagnosed with cancer on Feb 5 1987. And I have a couple of long term relationships break up during the month of February. So I hear you about disliking a particular month.

10. I think my outrage circuit
blew a fuse a while back. I have entered the deep disgust phase with many things, including the OJ topic which various news media simply cannot resist revisiting yet again. (Would that I would never hear of it again! :puke: )

18. Long overdue
A waste of skin indeed ...

But, hey, if they didn't have to talk about OJ and Jon Benet and Paris Hilton and crap like that all the time, they might actually have to serve up some news.

** resist ... urge ... to ... rant **

21. Don't worry .... I'm better now
Breathing deeply ... relaxing completely ... creative viaualization ...

Imagine a cool, babbling brook. See the brook. Hear the flowing waters splash against the rocks, feel the coolness on your hands. Yes, your hands, which are wrapped around Rupert's neck, holding him firmly beneath the waters. See the bubbles. You let him up for a moment to grab a breath of air and then BLAM! back into the frigid waters.

There. Don't you feel better now?

What bothers me the most is that it's got to be emotional torture for the Goldman and Brown families.

13. For me it's not so much outrage........
But fatigue, and disbelief......

Almost horror at the state of our country, and the world today......

It makes me want to curl up in my bed, and stay put......

23. you know what
I felt this way when I read the transcripts of the Clinton sex thing in a doctors office years ago. I don't know what is wrong with me anymore, I don't seem capable of outrage. I passed that poing a long time ago. Now it's just shell shock.

26. idg, I think you just described how I am feeling: shell shocked.
After awhile, you just have to shut down, for survival.

28. I do on occasion, more so than others
But often it's more it's in the reactions of people than the stories themselves that get me, especially here at DU. That's when I take a break, because it's not worth the anger that bubbles up inside me reading it.

You have to have at least a little detachment to the unrelenting insanity of the world, or it'll drive you insane, too. I'm much, much better in that since I became a Buddhist, and at the very least I'm alot more palatable to be around, too:)

30. I think the media cultivates it
and apparently I must like it because I'm constantly consuming it.

When I get to that point, I need to detox from TV and the internet by taking a time out for a few days.

My outrage circuits have fused solid and I'm so old no replacement parts are available.

I just have this half smile on my face at all times and my eye twitches occasionally.
