Laser pointers are not suitable for all pets...
A parrot will just sit there and not care about the big red shiny thing...

Until it sees said big red shiny thing on its feathers, of which it will start to preen to 'clean off' said big red shiny thing...

So parrot owners, does your pet parrot find a big red shiny thing interesting when pointed at the adjacent wall?

2. Not all cats will go for it, either.
Two of mine are apenuts for it. One will watch it, but not stir. The fourth just hunts the first two suckers.

3. and while most laser pointers aren't strong enough to blind
a cat, (or dog) they can if pointed directly at the animal's eye. So PLEASE be careful with laser pointers!

5. Yeah. Tempting as it is...
...the laser pointer should be aimed down, from the direction Kitty is least likely to look, and not from far across the room.

16. Similar deal here
Three go apeshit for the thing, one completely ignores it. Unless she's been into the catnip, in which case she'll watch it, but remain uninterested.

8. Laser pointers don't work on either molluscs or nematodes
They don't try for the red spot at all.

10. Two things
1. I appreciate your concern
2. I did it only once and kept the angle in such a way that would have made it near-impossible for the parrot to look into it. (

11. I did this to my cat a few times
and had to stop because I thought I was gonna fuck his mind up for life.
He went absolutely bonkers for that thing. In a darkened room he'd crash
into chairs, jump on the walls, everything. The problem came when I would
end the play session. He'd walk around for hours looking for the thing,
meowing, scratching under chairs, looking at the walls and ceiling.
Then he'd just sit in the middle of the room looking around and around.
Thought I was gonna give him PTSD! Fun while it lasted though.
