I simply cannot believe how old I am today! It feels like yesterday that I was celebrating my 30th birthday, the day before that my 21st birthday, and the day before that my 18th!!!!!!! WHERE DOES IT GO??? I can't believe I'm only a year away from the big 4-0, I think I'll just find a spider hole to crawl in for a few days around this time next year, lol!

And I'm very glad to have found DU this year, so that I can spend at least a little bit of my birthday with all of you! I have plans tonight with a friend (dinner and a movie) who battled a nasty aggressive cancer and WON, she and I are gonna celebrate LIFE!!!!!

1. happy birthday!
I'm turning 40 this spring. But I think 39 was more dramatic.

Hope you have a great birthday!

4. Happy Birthday!
Mine was last Saturday and I turned 35. It freaked me out at the time, but now I'm growing into my age, I think.

You have a great attitude - indeed, go and celebrate LIFE. Sounds like an awesome day for both of you. Revel in the good things, my dear namesake, and have a wonderful birthday!

5. oh shut up!
I'm 52 today, and I don't want to hear it!

Yes it does go QUICK, fellow partyer!

My plans: Be a total vegetable all day, until dinnertime with beautiful husband and kids, none of whom came into my life till I was pushing 40 with a short stick.

Ergo, second lesson-- It CAN get better!

Seriously, have a wonderful day, lh!!!

And happy birthday! Your friend is amazing!

Every age can be the best time of your life, if you choose. Age is just a number.

I'm having more fun and more joy at at being in my 40s than I ever did in my 20s or 30s. Recovering from a lousy marriage had a lot to do with it. ;-)

Supernova <-- 41 1/2 and counting.... :D

16. Just look at all the Yuppies, Hippies
They are senior citizens now, but they are most identified with the youth movement. I Recently saw Pete Seeger (87 years old, or something like that!). He is still young!

Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 02:16 PM by KzooDem
In a couple months, I'll be half of 80. Welcome to the nursing home!

Seriously, I think it only gets better with age. I'm acutally in better shape going towards 40 than I was when I hit 30. And I've got more in the bank, too.

I know what you mean about it all going so fast. I've packed A LOT of life in my 31.9 years, but sometimes it feels like just yesterday I was 18, but you're still young enough to have a lot more life left to enjoy.

I hope your birthday today is a great one! :toast:

24. Don't sweat it...
I turned 40 this year and had a great time doing it! To think that I used to jibe people when they turned 40 - what was I thinking?

Personally, I rather be 40 rather than 20. The plus side of youth is that you could getting really ripped and recover from it the next day. Other than that, I don't miss being the insecure, snotty little twit that I was at 20. There are so many things (books, music, films, etc...) that I find fascinating now which I would have scoffed at back then, I'm a happier person than I was at 20.

Remember, age is a state of mind.

Happy 39th Birthday!!!!

32. There is, indeed, a lot of truth
to that. The problem is, it's easier to recover from stupid mistakes in your twenties, lol! I once had a teacher in high school who said that the forties were the best time of your life because you're old enough to know what you should and are wiser, but still young enough to enjoy yourself.
