I've been unemployed at home for two years and I hate it
I've had temporary part-time jobs and I gig as full-time as I can around here as a musician

but it doesn't pay the bills

and I'm wearing out my underwear way too fast, sitting around in them all the time.

1. I've been off work now for 2 months now
Edited on Thu Jan-04-07 03:41 PM by sammythecat
due to an injury at work. I probably won't go back till sometime in the spring a couple months after surgery.

At first I was nice (except for the injury part), but now the novelty is starting to wear off. I don't have a great project in the works, I can't come up with a million dollar idea, and sitting around is getting old now. Believe it or not, I miss going to work and bitching about it.

I think I'm one of those people that need a certain amount of routine in their lives. When I'm busy with work I actually get more things done outside of work. Now I have all the time in the world and I'm getting nothing done. I need a daily kick in the ass. Like a deisel engine, I need pressure or I just won't go.

Also, when I'm working I enjoy my leisure time much more than I do now.

3. I know how you feel
It's hard to get a day off with my job. But seven years ago I has a major surgery, and was off work for three months. Problem is, I couldn't really enjoy it, 'cause I wasn't in physical condition to do anything.

2. I know the feeling...
I'm a substitute teacher...which means I'm a part-timer myself...I've been a sub since march of 04, and I've probably had...a full month of work total, since then....its saddening. Good thing my wife earns enough to support us...otherwise, I'd be working at Tyson's chicken....

4. I hear ya, dude
Same thing here, only it's been 3 1/2 years.

Some days I wonder if it'd really be that bad to live in a house labled "Frigidaire."

:pals:

5. looking back
I don't know how I've stayed afloat--and out of the Firgidaire Estates--for this long

it seems like just when the curtain is about to fall, someone calls with some gigs or a session or an unexpected royalty check shows up.

6. Yup
Somehow, there's always a lifeline when you need one. It's amazing.
