Hi bigwill,

Thanks for the congratulations. I found out about DU when someone on Dave Leip's US Election Atlas Forum got fed up with me arguing for radical progressive causes over and over again and said I should post that stuff somewhere where it was more appropriate, like DU. They got fed up with me there. At least in the past, the Atlas Forum has always been at least 50% Republicans and Libertarians. I got tired of arguing with them, too. So I Googled "DU" to see what the heck that was. The rest is history. I got on DU and decided I would post where they would appreciate me more.
Anyway, thanks for asking. That site is a very unique place, Dave Leip's US Election Atlas. It's a real find for wonky politics junkies. First, it is a very useful resource for information on past elections and for information on current polls.
Second, it has an active forum filled with ALL sorts of posters, from the sublimely humorous and articulate (rare), to the out and out wing-nut kooks (far too common). It's actually not that bad. It is a place where freepers and DUers may actually cross swords from time to time in verbal jousting.
I encourage people to check it out both for the EXCELLENT resource it provides, and for the lively debate. Dave Leip encourages people to link to his site, so I know this is ok. His site is used to handling traffic. Here is the main site for information on elections:

And here is the Atlas Forum. It's pretty cool. The General Politics: US General Discussion section is where a lot of the action takes place.
http://www.uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php I have over 1000 posts there under the name "freedomburns". Here is one thread I am active in,
Why We Need More Troops in Iraq, posted by nickshepDEM:
