10. The Beatles "Can't buy me love" When I was a little kid
Not really hearing the wrong lyric, I just didn't hear it the way it should be.

Instead of hearing "I don't care too much for money"
I heard "I don't care to much for money"

I wondered what kind of action "much" was..lol. How do you much for something? Hey, I was a little kid.. and my mind got broken once in a while. :)

26. You've reminded me of one from when I was really young...
Don Williams had a song called "Endless Sleep" about a woman who tries to commit suicide by flinging herself into the ocean.

One of the lines goes, "I heard a voice cryin' from the deep, come join me, baby, in my endless sleep."

When I was a little kid, I thought it said, "...come join me, baby, in my embassy."

I thought it was strange.

13. From "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight"
I always thought they were saying, "I'm not talking about the linen," (which I didn't understand at all), and they were saying, "I'm not talking about moving in."

I'd Really Love To See You Tonight

(England Dan & John Ford Coley)

Hello, yeah, it's been a while.
Not much, how 'bout you?
I'm not sure why I called,
I guess I really just wanted to talk to you.
And I was thinking maybe later on,
We could get together for a while.
It's been such a long time,
And I really do miss your smile.

I'm not talking 'bout moving in,
And I don't want to change your life.
But there's a warm wind blowing,
The stars are out, and I'd really love to see you tonight.

We could go walking through a windy park,
Or take a drive along the beach.
Or stay at home and watch t.v.
You see, it really doesn't matter much to me.

I'm not talking 'bout moving in,
And I don't want to change your life.
But there's a warm wind blowing,
The stars are out, and I'd really love to see you tonight.

I won't ask for promises,
So you won't have to lie.
We've both played that game before,
Say I love you, then say goodbye.

I'm not talking 'bout moving in,
And I don't want to change your life.
But there's a warm wind blowing,
The stars are out, and I'd really love to see you tonight.

lyrics read "swing like a dinner chair" instead of "swingin like ya just don't care"

And my sister thought that in Cher's "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" that it was "Gypsies, trash can thieves"

Umm....actually there was someone I knew, (named Eli), who thought this until I got him a copy of 3 DOG NIGHT with the song "Eli's Coming" on it AND showed him the real lyrics as posted in the official web-site. It is not "...hide your daughters" but instead it is "...hide your heart girl"
"Stud-legend-in-his-own-mind" that he is, he immediately hated the cd and now I own it.

18. In "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart" by Elton John and Kiki Dee
where Elton sings: "Oh, honey, if I get restless..."

I thought he sang: "Oh, honey, your saggy breast is..."

I was in 6th grade, so I guess I was beginning to think a lot about that part of the female anatomy (although I was more into supple breasts, not the saggy kind).

The Christmas Song, as sung by Nat King Cole and heard incorrectly by me as a kid:

22. One Christmas carol and one Led Zeppelin song
When I first heard "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," I thought the refrain went, "Oh tidings of Covenant joy." I knew that word because there was an Evangelical Covenant church on the way to my grandparents' house.

In "The Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin, I thought that "On we sweep with threshing oar" was "Always sleeping, reaching out. Tonight we're going to twist and shout."

Before you could look stuff up on the internets

Take for instance "Blue Highway" by Billy Idol (the coolest guy in the world when I was 12)

Real lyrics:

Oh you know we're gonna ride
On a blue highway
Walk with the legs you're blind
On a blue highway
Wave hellow to pride
On my highway

Mine:
You know you wanna ride
On the Blue Highway
Walk with a lectural glide :wtf:
On the blue highway
Way below too pride
on my highway

Luckily nobody ever called me out and demanded I tell them what the hell a "lectural glide" was, so I just dorkily sang away in my room with my little spiky haircut, curled lip, and fist just like Billy.

"By the dawn's early light"

When I was very young, i thought it was "by the donzer lee light." I had no clue what a "Donzer Lee" light was (some specialty lamp, maybe?), and when i asked my mom, i thought she was gonna pass out from laughing so hard.

31. "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by The Beatles
I only recently discovered that Lennon is singing "I can't hide" rather than "I get high" in this song.

Slightly embarrassing, but, considering the source, it seemed appropriate for Lennon to be singing about getting high...
