ANOTHER Question to all DUers who wear glasses:
What kind of frames do you have?

This year I did not look at the names or prices and just picked out the frames I truly loved, and ended up with PRADA!

They rule, actually. Best frames I've ever had.

1. My main pair are a wonderful Calvin Klein frame.
They were pricey, more than I ever paid for glasses before, but as I was looking around at all the choices, my mind kept going back to the beautiful Clavin Kleins. So I went with them.

6. It's worth the extra money...
...to have frames you like. You have to wear them every day after all.

42. And they're the first thing people see when they look at your face
I'm a major tight-wad about a lot of things, most things maybe, but even I will open my wallet wider for frames I love. If I have to wear them all day, every day, they have to be something I'm thrilled with.

don't fall off when I bend down.

4. I Have Vogue Frames
I have the frames where there is hardly any frame. A light wire over the top, nothing under the lenses, and the temple pieces. I prefer small glasses, and have for probably 15 years.

17. I went on a frame shopping spree
Bought three sets of frames, there was sale at the optician's shop:
1) Silhouette (rimless) for computer/music reading
2) Nine West reading glasses only
3) A pair of easy clips with the magnetic sunglass overlay...really cool....

33. When lenses were still made of glass, I wore Cast Iron frames
Because the only way you're gonna keep lenses that are ground out of the bottoms of Coke bottles on your face is to mount 'em in cast iron. That shit was heavy--not the frames, but the inch-thick lenses.

They're neat as the lenses do not go all the way to the edges. Very funky. I think they're from Japan.

37. Just got these:

By prodesign:denmark, which I'd never heard of before. They were the ones I liked best at a small boutique where everything was expensive, and they turned out to be the least expensive in the place, completely covered by my insurance. :) (Except for the lenses, that is. My vision is so bad that I always have to pay a "freakishly myopic" penalty, plus extra for the super-thin so they won't hurt my head with their excessive weight.)

The color is called Shiny Dark Petrol. (Who know petrol was blue?)

Anyway, I love 'em, but I still feel self-conscious in them because they're so...visible.

40. I have the old Benetton frames from the 80's
that are really big and round. I have been wearing them since 1989. They are so scratched up I can barely see through them, but I only wear them at night so I don't run into walls, I wear contacts most of the rest of the time.

41. Anne Klein frames- brown/ blue tint to the frames/ ultralite weight lenses
I mostly wear contacts.

It amuses me when I'm wearing glasses around the office and one of our newer colleagues says something along the lines of "huh- never knew you wore glasses." Yep. Sure need 'em, or their friends, the contact lenses in order to see...

Edited on Thu Dec-28-06 12:29 AM by mycritters2
my metal frames got bent, which is a pain when you have astigmatisms in both eyes. So, I was looking for the least obtrusive plastic frames I could find. Voila! Gucci.

The beagle likes 'em, too.
