Guitarists: How do I do "THE STEELY DAN CHORD"?

I have never been able to do that one - step by step me here please!

The most important thing you need is "9"

drop the 3 and play the 2

and don't lose that number, Rikki.

6. It's called a "Mu Major" chord.

Major triad with an added 2nd or 9th. I have no idea of the fingerings. I think the third (?) is usually voiced low (in the bass).

7. This may help, it worked for me...

1. Have all of the fingers on your right hand broken and then surgically lengthened, (left hand if you're one of those...), an inch is usually sufficient.
2. Complete 6-8 months of occupational therapy.
3. Complete 4-6 years of Guitar theory at any somewhat reputable music school, I recommend Berkley.
4. Undertake a "functional" opium habit.

There you go.

8. Although keep in mind Becker didn't play on any of the Dan albums

Up until Katy Lied, I think.

They shopped their solos around to the best session player.

Nonetheless, Becker is a God.
