Or like you don't fit in anywhere? Sometimes it seems like I'm too serious for the Lounge, but too light-hearted for GD. What's a girl to do? :/

not so much here, but IRL. Sometimes you can use it to your advantage, though. You'd be amazed by the conversations I get to hear because no one remembers I'm around.

Up until I was in my very late 30's, I felt completely invisible.

The only place I've ever fit in is in my UU congregation; I found them when I hit 39. I was pretty much a loner up until then.

Perhaps I just don't care anymore whether I fit in or not, I don't know. Having been on the 'fringe' of society for a time, I see what 'the norm' does to many people. I don't know if I want to be a part of 'it'.

It took me over a year to try and fit in the Lounge. I don't know if anyone 'fits in' GD. :crazy: As for you...who can forget those beautiful green eyes of yours? (and your wonderfully evocative nick...) :hi:

I went to an expensive private university and graduate college, never got in the in crowd, never got any cushy jobs, not accepted, have social skills, have never been shy, even as a little kid. Just don't know who you have to know to get a decent job.

I was pretty (some say beautiful, still), told I was brilliant, attractive, vivacious, interesting, etc.......didn't qualify as a trophy wife. Not tall enough, not vacuous enough, I guess.

Just got back from a preschool holidy singing thingy (awwwww, so cute). I was the only one alone. Sitting there in an auditorium full of parents, relatives, friends all chatting up a storm, I kept thinking about this thread as I stared into space, wondering if I really could just disappear and would anyone in the room even notice. :shrug:

Then the kids came on stage, and I remembered there was one little girl who definately did see me. :) :loveya:

76. Meh, I've got my niche on DU. RT forum...half the people hate me, the other half tolerate me.

But I'm never invisible in that forum. Then I come here and I'm lucky if I get one response. But I don't care...I just make vodoo dolls and pin them when people ignore me.

I wouldn't worry about it too much...my feeling is that the lounge is a little clique. Not in a bad way, mind you..but you have a lot of people who are friends here, and who seems to have met in real life, so they don't really know everyone else. Try posting your pic someday, lol....that'll sober you up if your feeling too visible. The person above me, and the person below me get "your so hot" "omg your sexy" and I get maybe one...usually along the lines of "Evoman, you look like a bloated piece of shit". And thats on a good day.

GD, on the other hand, isn't somewhere where I would want to be anything but invisible. I mean seriously...do you want to get a shiv in the back? The last thing you want is one of the barking dogs in GD to actually know who you are.
