Can a cat overdose on Catnip?
I'm new to having a cat. She is about 6 months old. How much catnip should I give her?

1. Just a pinch or two
I usually put it in a box, it makes it easier for my guy to roll around in it

5. She's young. She may not react to the catnip at all.
Adult cats seem to get more enjoyment out of it than kittens do. Maybe because kittens are just naturally totally stoned.

said. Plus I have a cat that managed to filch a bag one night. Next day there was just a shredded plasic bag and no evidence of any catnip anywhere. He may have had some help but I think he at most, if not all. No ill effects. He knows exactly what drawer I keep it in and acts up anytime I get near it.

Not all adult cats are interested in it, by the way.

On edit I'd like to add that not all catnip available is enticing to addicted cats. It must have a shelf life or something because I've gotten some that just didn't do it, while another brand would put him on another world.

8. Yeah, I grew my own catnip and then found out that none of
my cats liked it. They'd look at me with that look that says 'so???? you want I should do something with this stuff?'

9. Catnip is kinda like cannabis in this way...
Its almost impossible for a cat to overdose on it, I had a neighbor who grew a GARDEN of the stuff, and would complain when cats invaded the yard.

I figure its possible for a cat to overdose, but they are more likely to suffer a burst stomach rather than any actual reaction from the drug. Humans can't overdose on Cannabis either, its physically impossible, you'd have to consume it, straight, like a cat would with catnip, and would have to eat like a hundred pounds of it.

Also, not all cats react to or enjoy catnip, about 20-30% of them do NOT have any and/or a bad reaction to it. This is again, similar to humans, some humans don't like Cannabis or react to it that well.
