PLEEze help me identify a band...
They closed out the last hour of NBC's Today Show this morning (the 9 to 10 hour) They were very very funky...George Clintonesque but maybe a bit slicker. One of the musicians appeared to be playing a steel guitar (or at least some stringed thing laid flat). I just got into the house in time to hear them and then the Today Show signed off over them with no credit.I can't find anything on the official Today web site.
If you've got a clue, please help this poor old music lover. I thought they were really really good. And a glorious New Year to you all, too!

Robert Randolph and the Family Band prominently features an incredible steel guitar player in the person of Robert Randolph himself . . .
