2. AAAAIIEEEE!
 Sort of. That, and a teaspoon of sugar under my tongue, dissolved slowly. Don't ask me why it works, but it does.

The older I get, the more jolting and painful the spasms. I remember when I was a kid and having the hiccups was funny...

5. Sugar is the only way I've ever really gotten past them.
That, and the one time in college when I went totally hynotherapist on a friend and convinced her that she truly had muscle control over her diaphragm. Haven't been able to pull that one off in quite a while.

And you're right. Hiccups aren't funny anymore. But they were hilarious when we were ten.

4. Oh, I've tried that
but I swear, without the sugar it doesn't work. Weird, because it used to.

6. Yes, that does!
But you have to really hold it!

And then let go, and take another breath, and hold it as long as possible!

The good thing is you don't need any other things....just hold your breath!

It always works for me! :bounce: :bounce:

7. My junior high home economics teacher had a no fail method.
She would get a cup of water and a teaspoon. Then we were to take three spoonfuls of water. I don't know why it worked every single time, but it did. If my hiccups get too bad I will use that method.

10. My sister has a sovereign remedy for the hiccups, but
since it consists of standing on your head until your heart stops beating, I've never tried it.

12. That does sound a bit drastic
for the hiccups. I'll not kill myself over a spasm.

15. my sister-in-law always offers a dollar for the person
to hiccup again. It almost always works. I think she has only had to pay out once or twice.
