9. He's from Australia and very big
on the folk/accoustic circuit. You can just tell he loves what he does and loves sharing it with you!

There are two more very nice ones in this thread I posted last night that no one responded to:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

There are tons of his on YouTube if you do a search.

Enjoy! :hi:

11. You're so very welcome!
I love turning people on to great music. It's one of my passions. If I had an undending supply of money, I would have the world's largest music collection (after I helped those in need, of course!)

Talk about collecting music.

We've just scratched the surface, too.

14. That's one of the best things about it.
So much really incredible stuff out there to find. So much that doesn't get the airplay it deserves. It's a neverending treasure hunt!

Nothing like a musician that is that creative and loves his craft so very much.

It seems you do too.

You might enjoy this (though it is not Classical Gas):

I love to watch a musician who's like a painter. One who goes far beyond in learning their craft and can bend it and shape it so creatively.

I do love guitar, and mandolin, and dobro, and fiddle!

I live for music but sadly can't play a lick.

Did you catch the Crossroads Guitar Festival that Clapton put on? They showed 2 hours of the DVD on our local PBS station the other night and a sat there grinnin' like an idiot the whole time, totally elated! (Well except for the John Mayer and ZZTop segments.)

I'm also really liking Mark Knopler in his post-Dire Straits days.

And guitar music is so seldom broadcast on public TV! I'll have to keep an eye out for the next broadcast.

By the way, Sabicas is unique, there has not been a flamenco guitarist before or since, that has approached his mastery of this style. Even Narciso Yepes and Segovia, both virtuosos of the guitar and masters of their own guitar style, have not been able to copy Sabicas.

from the reviews I read on Amazon of the DVD he put out of it, it's over three hours long and doesn't even begin to touch all the amazing music from that weekend. I'm thinking I need to get it and hope he releases subsequent volumes of it. Try to rent it or borrow it from your library if you can find it.

I've been searching out all this great music on YouTube the past few days.
God! I love this stuff!!

And don't even get me started on Stevie Ray Vaugh, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Clapton or Carlos Santana and so many more! LOL

I'll have to check and see if they have it. I've found several books there I haven't been able to find anywhere else.

27. Mason Williams Reading Matter
is this the one you are talking about, Redstone? Or maybe Flavors?

Reading Matter is my most favorite book of poetry ever. I was raised on it. Found both of the two I mentioned in used bookstores. Love 'em.

6. Though the purists would argue that he only gets above third position twice,
it's still some good guitar work. You can be creative in only first and second position.

23. It's all about feeling and emotion
if the music touches your soul, then the number of chords is totally irrelevant.
