One of my best friends is a damned fool.
He's applying for a job with Homeland Security, and he gave them my name as a character reference for security clearance. The FBI just sent me a questionaire to fill out about him.
:wtf:
I've been a civil rights activist, lobbyist and volunteer
I've been to, and been photographed at protests, rallies and other fun events
I'm not shy about publically criticizing governments, especially our own
I'm a vegan (and the DoJ thinks vegans are terrorists)
I'm a proud outspoken lefty
I'm openly gay (and he used to be my housemate)

I've almost certainly got an FBI file. And he's using me as a reference? What the hell was he thinking?

He also didn't ask me first if I wanted to be a reference. So if this screws him it's his own damned fault.

2. He'll get the job.
And then it will be like he never knew you.

I hate it when that happens.

4. That would suck.
But, given the pressure he gets from his wife I could see that happening. x(

5. my nephew is going to work for the FBI in January when he finally gets
out of the service "Of course they checked out you and Uncle Michael" "Ok and you're still getting the job?" "Yes Ma'am"

so i guess it really isn't about us unless we've done something really big.

12. Um, not management material...
Sorry to say. He's a great guy, and he works hard, but he couldn't manage two hungry dogs into a butcher shop.

I won't say that on the questionaire though. :P

19. I'm sure he'll be assigned work that requires
meticulous attention to detail, and some level of creative processing of information. He's good with people too.

I'm sure there's some vital petting zoo in Rural Indiana that needs those skills, but I doubt he'd leave DC willingly. :7

11. So far, you didn't list anything
criminal or anti-american. Just another citizen looking for life/liberty/pursuit of happiness.

Homeland Security must have checked out all the baggage theives and inspection line thugs, so their check is probably more of putting tic marks on bits of paper.

That's not his only job application, is it?

Regards.

14. He applied in a bunch of places.
That's the only place that requires security clearance.

I hope he gets the job. His wife has health problems so a good insurance plan would definitely help.

20. When they give him the little 666 tag
which is basically tracking device, tell him to leave it in one stationary location in his home, They really do track every move a person makes.

Basically homeland security gives this little plastic thing for your keychain that looks like a computer flash drive. They can tell if your at home, driving down the street or visiting someone.

He's got a left wing vegan friend who is gay. You give him credibility. 20 bucks says that you helped get him in. I'm trusting you on this bet.
