And it's going to take some time to get used to it!

I took in a very sweet, engaging 18 year old girl fresh out of rehab. She has nowhere to go, unless you count her mother's house - where the stepfather that sexually abused her since she was a child lives. That is NOT an option in my book. So I'm not living alone any longer.

Sleep is going to be a precious commodity for awhile, I can tell already!

3. Sometimes there's only one choice.

Letting her stay here was that only choice. Her story is INCREDIBLE - way too much to type out here. The short of it is - after being abused by her stepfather and him going to jail her mother has treated her like shit. Told the younger kids that she is the reason their dad wasn't there, called her a whore, a slut, and a worthless piece of shit. Wouldn't take her to the doctor, buy her clothes, etc - while all the other kids get catered too. True Cinderella story. There's no wonder she turned to drugs to try and drown her emotions.

Are you also in recovery? If not, be aware that addicts are naturally manipulative liars. I say this as an addict - one in recovery. I'm sure she has a wonderful heart but she will steal from you to get drugs without even blinking, if she's not working a program. Best of luck to both of you.

But I know what you mean. I just spent a year of my life learning all the ins and outs of addiction from an extreme alcoholic. She's in a program, and she's made the choice to recover on her own. She just finished her 28 days - and she's in outpatient now.

12. I must agree.

When I was in hospital back in July, there were two sorts of people:

1. The depressed folks brought about by the insanity going on. Some of which include my ever-favorite neo-Libertarian types that state "Everybody for himself, screw everybody else" until they themselves need help from the bleedin' hearts, in which case they'll take anything they can get and not give back while still singing their same parrot-trained brainwashed song and dance. :eyes:

2. The runaway fools, some of which were in rehab. And some of them redefined bizarre (e.g. the 17 year old callous lesbian runaway who loved Hitler... :eyes: )

Admittedly, this is a generalization, but I agree in that she should be watched closely and forced to earn trust. And slowly.

Good karma would be a good thing - life has been difficult and very much shite for a too large chunk of my life up until this point. Maybe the last half of my existence will be smooth sailing.
