Help me. I have a baaaad head cold.
I don't think it is the flu; I don't have a fever, and the congestion is confined to one side of my head, primarily. But I'm miserable. I've taken antihistimine and analgesic for the painful discomfort, but need to clear this up. Remedies? Sympathy?

7. thanks for the sympathy.
I've been reading that Zicam may cause me to lose my sense of smell. Does it do this to you?

10. No , but I don't abuse it either
I have 2 kinds one for allergies one with the Menthal/
Eculyptus . When I get my first sneeze and itching in spring
a days dose keeps all my allergies aways for weeks .
2 months ago I had a head cold and decided to try the Zicam
for colds but ended up buying Menthal/Eculyptus one , I did
2 doses one at night and one the next day and I was able
to clear right up .

I suppose if you use it more than that it could
affect your sense of smell , but it hasn't affected
me that way . :hi:

3. I can offer sympathy, comrade.
I'm fighting off something similar right now. Nasty congestion, a mild cough and no fever. Just a head full of junk, mostly.

I have horehound and Hall's mentho-lyptus cough drops, prescription cold meds (guaifenisin and pseudoephedrine) that my doc gave me last year, when I did have the flu, and hot whiskey toddies. Drink hot herbal tea, that's the only other thing I can recommend that I haven't started doing yet tonight.

Hot baths are also good, but I don't feel that bad yet. That means I have to leave both the computer and the stereo...

8. Thanks.
I wish I had some cough drops -- unfortunately, no.

But I''ve got a cupboard full of natural oils - eucalyptus and lavender, for two. Hope you get better soon, too!

4. Simple.
Booze.

Comedy videos.

Hot, raunchy sex. ("Screw a cold, feed a fever")

In that, or any other order you wish.

Maybe I should continue feeding..

6. Sex is rather drastic, don't you think?
Ha! I'm a bit past the age of needing sex on a regular basis -- (and yes, this does happen but don't worry, you won't miss it).

Right now I'm sipping some menthol tea (Gypsy Cold Care). I've already tried hot compresses with eucalyptus and lavender oil (helped a little), but Zicam sounds dangerous. I saw on the web that it causes one to lose the sense of smell.

9. What age does THAT happen???
Connected with menopause, right?

If I can keep the nose flowing air OK and the throat from feeling like I swallowed cactus pads, I'm OK.
Right now I have the Alka-Seltzer "cold plus" action going with 12-hour nose spray and some Southern Comfort for the aches.

11. I guess menopause is part of it.
I've never been a "house afire" type, anyway. And the husband had prostate surgery a couple of years ago, and that kind of put a damper on things, too.

We still have sex -- but less often. And we have to plan ahead -- I don't want to go into it, but spontaneity is no longer an option.

Nuff said.

17. I don't have it very often..
so tonight was kinda weird in that way. Sex is over-rated to me.. which may be a bigger statement about me than about sex..

BTW.. I'm clearing-up a bit. Maybe it worked, lol?

18. I tried Zicam and it worked
I have been suffering with a terrible cold for three days. Yesterday I took someone's advice and bought some Zicam -- the nose swabs and the decongestant spray, and Wow!

I'm better already. Without Zicam I would be really getting sick right now, because my chest was getting tight and I was getting a very sore throat. Now, much better.

Long live Zicam!
