The calm before the storm...
I've got all this work to do tonight and none of it's here yet. And deadline, which is already early enough on Saturdays, has been pushed up another hour because of the nasty weather.

:scared:

1. Well Lisa, I Suspect That You Are Tough Enough For The Job!
Just the little bit I know about you, I have no doubt that you will rise to the occasion and get what needs to be done on deadline, done.

Weather getting bad huh?

Great, that means it will be coming my way in a few days probably!

Steve

2. That's half the problem...
it's not a question of whether I can get it done...I'm in 'wait' mode. Ain't nothing I can do until people start sending me their 'stuff'...and they ain't sending it.

I'm starting to really get nervous, here. I can't stand sitting around, twiddling my thumbs and waiting for other people. Drives me crazy.

It was just starting to snow when I left work last night...and it snowed most of today. Not a lot of accumulation, just enough to make the pages have to go early and generally muck things up.

4. I'm sorry...
no. Not a magazine. I do the agate for the daily here. Mostly preps, hence tonight's problem. I think everyone's waiting on...I don't know what. Dinner? Bedtime stories? In the end, what counts is that I've got a 50 inch hole to fill (conservative estimate) in the next three hours, and nothing to put in it.

Yet.

And I wish I could call 'em up. I've tried to call a couple of the coaches but haven't had any luck.

Since I started to bitch, I've gotten one wrestling tournament and one basketball summary, though.

Things are starting to look up, maybe?

and I've been hooked to a machine all evening. Breathing is getting to be too much work. :(

Tomorrow when the tree and ornaments come out of the basement, it'll be worse. I try to dust everything before it's put away but it doesn't help much.

On a high note, Gracie purred for the first time since her surgery on Thursday. :)

Poor Gracie.

Poor YOU. Tell Heather to go down into the basement and open the boxes tonight so that they can air out before they come upstairs if you insist on putting it up tomorrow.

Does the neb make you sleepy? It always knocks girly-poo out.

Take care of yourself, Sweetie. Tell Heather to fix you something warm. Put your feet up and give Gracie a skritch for me.

29. The procedure definitely took care of Gracie's problem
The infection was very bad in her middle ear. He punctured her eardrum and was able to suction most of it out. My biggest fear is that it will come back once her eardrum heals over, but I really need to stop borrowing trouble.

The nebulizer makes me sleepy, but only because I'm not struggling so hard to breathe. The albuteral makes my heart race.

We had a huge weather change with 50 mph winds yesterday. I have one limb in the yard that's a good 10 inches across. I'm glad it wasn't a tree near the house. The yard looks like a tornado went through. I'm sure the weather triggered this, that and the dust...

Oh and a  for girly-poo.

I know that when she was little and I'd neb her, I'd make sure she was settled into her bed before I turned it on.

She hasn't been too bad this year, though (*knocking wood...HARD*). She scared me a week or so ago...started to come down with a cold which often precedes something nasty. I bullied her into taking care of herself, though. And she felt rotten enough to let me.

I'm telling you, I'm evil.

Since the weather's bad, the pages have to go earlier so that the outlying areas can get their papers on time.

Colorado 5A & 4A state championships for football were a total fiasco when all four teams came on to the field at the same time, none of them willing to back down and leave until it was actually time for their game to start...

eh...

I'm sorry I can't help you at all... the stupid Denver Post Online doesn't even have results up from the semi-finals, though it does say finals are today at Invesco field. Since they don't have semi-final rsults, I can't make up a good story about who was in the finals or how the game went...

You could have run my story, and later blamed it on someone hacking into your fax machine (or whatever media you use to get results from the field) and how were you supposed to know it was wrong? :P

Now that'd be funny.

Turns out that Wheat Ridge won class 4A and Mullen finally lost their first game of the season when Columbine took the 5A championship. Alamosa is the only team in the state to finish their season undeafeated, winning the 3A title. None of those are teams from our coverage area, so we're going with AP stuff.

Football's officially over. Now we're into basketball and wrestling tournament season.

Happy happy, joy joy.

and girl's basketball...

I found a different page at the Post website, and did see
Columbine at Mullen for 5A
Loveland at Wheatridge for 4A

I also see the girls of my alma mater got their heinies kicked at basketball 55 to 25 by Standley Lake. :(

and I'm posting this swimming result mostly for the (presumed on my part, error)

Girls swimming

REGIS 22, DOUGLAS COUNTY 74

200-yard medley relay - Regis 1:54.39 (SQT); Regis 1:59.22 (SQT); 200 freestyle - Markel, R, 2:07.19; 200 IM - Yslas, R, 2:23.01; 50 free - Zamprelli, DC, 26.06; Diving - Branda, DC, 113.70 pts.; 100 butterfly - Boudar, R, 1:08.04; 100 free - Templin, R, 57.09; 500 free - Urban, R, 5:47.71; 200 free relay - Regis 1:44.81 (SQT); 100 backstroke - Templin, R, 1:04.80; 100 breaststroke - Yslas, R, 1:12.20 (SQT); 400 free relay - Regis 3:49.66 (SQT).

I don't see how Regis could have lost that meet...
if they have enough girls to field 2 medley relay teams, and win 10 of 12 events, there's no way they should not have had enough depth to not pick up some of the 2nd & 3rd place finishes as well as the 10 wins.

(on edit) - heck, with 10 wins, they must have got more than 22 points regardless of 2nd & 3rd place finishes... (end edit)

Happy winter sports season reporting... I hope your field reporters are more timely in getting their results and stories to you...

:hi:

37. Yeah...but the big swim meets don't happen until later in the season
and most of the girls basketball tournaments are next weekend. This weekend it's boys basketball and wrestling. Non-conference girls basketball and the swimming's trickling in. No teams in our coverage area swimming tonight, though.

Hockey's started too, but I've already gotten all those summaries. Well, except for Lewis-Palmer's and that one's just getting started. No way in hell I'm gonna get that in time.
