They gave and/or traded it with the locals there.

3. How about
My Dad invented the electronic calculator! This was before the designer made the profits. Friden (the firm he worked at) got all the profits. The patents were eventually sold to Hewlett Packard. Anyone who uses one of the older HP calculators remembers that you don't hit enter after the first number. That was his design. I actually prefer this system because it's what I learned when young.

11. Actually, the first one was about the size of a
coputer and weighed almost as much. It cost around $1500 dollars and all it did was add and subtract. They couldn't produce enough to meet demand.

The HPs handhelds came out about 8-9 years later. I didn't have one either. Too expensive but my Dad had one. Singer who owned the patents at the time didn't believe there was a market for small calculators :eyes: so they sold the patents.

24. Nope. My relative worked for Hormel when he invented it.
So, they make all the bucks.

The Dept of War came to Hormel and said they needed some kind of meat product that didn't spoil for a long time and could be shipped to anywhere. My relative was given the task of coming up with something.

25. My grandfather invented the clock radio.
And several other notable things such as the use of Ether for starting cars (Pit Stop) in cold weather and the atomizer used for perfume bottles. He died at a very young age though, so the family never made it big.
