Where do you go online when you need to wipe TRULY upsetting stuff
from the screen of your mind? Like, the websites you'd need after a night when, like, you're reading a book of poetry, and it's going well, nothing too challenging, but you've been through some engaging pieces that made you think a little more about the world and less about you own petty woes and then--"OMFG, that is the most disturbing poem I've read this year. WHY?" and then your brain shut down. But not before the most disturbing image you have yet been exposed to allll year was left in your head.

Pretty pictures of kitties? Sunsets behind mountainscapes? Something? (Read: something not disturbing.)

1. www.dailykitten.com
OK, I go there in the morning to get my daily dose of kittens since I don't have one myself. But it is really calming.

3. Sometimes I go to Metababy and write about it
http://www.metababy.com (essentially an HTML chalkboard where you can put anything you want)

Other times I look at things like http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=nightjar or http://www.exploretheabyss.com/ . Pretty!

4. Ooooh. Thanks, AlienGirl!
I did do...some writing in response to the extremely unsettling feelings I was left with in response to--damn, I just did not need to read that poem tonight, is all. Just--man, some editor should have put a warning label in the intro to that book.

depressing sometimes, as far as for the future of the human race but it never fails to make me laugh really, really hard.

I am not sentimental so that cute kitten/bunny stuff just doesn't work for me.

edit: fixed link

I mean, does it get any better than this:

"Thank You, Come Again! Black customer: Give me a yellow cash card, my brother.
Middle Eastern owner: What'd you call me?
Black customer: I said 'my brother.'
Middle Eastern owner: No, no, no. We are different.
Black customer: No, we're not -- we all come from the same place. We have the same blood.
Middle Eastern owner: No, your blood is black -- your blood is shit.
Black customer: No, my blood is blue just like yours. Besides, if I don't come here to your store to spend money, how are you going to afford the bombs to blow up buildings?"
