Meet my new feline friends
As some of you may know, I used to be the proud daddy of 6 wonderful cats. When I split with my long-time girlfriend recently, we decided it was best for the cats not to be seperated from each other, since they were all from the same litter and had always had each other. So she kept all 6.

Today, I adopted 2 new companions from the local Humane Society shelter. Meet Freddie (orange/white longhair) and Jerry (tuxedo)!

28. my mom got a 11/2 yr old from the SPCA
when it latched on to her.

My mom, a bonafide cat fanatic, says that it is better to adopt a full grown kitty, because you can already tell what kind of personality it will have.

How wonderful are you to get full grown cats from a shelter, they are the hardest to place. Everyone loves a kitten. I am sure they will be happy with such a great companion! Congrats!!

24. Jerry Looks Like Domino
a stray that Bertha and I feed. He used to roam the rural neighborhood where we live, but lately he's been sticking pretty close to our front porch. Domino is totally feral, but we love him.

23. Great looking pals you got there
Almost as adorable as my Abbott!!!

I'm actually thinking of getting a second cat for my place so Abbie has someone to play with. This time I'll go through the Humane Society since it's only $75 and that includes all the shots and fixing and what not. It's not cheap taking in a stray and getting him taken care of for indoor living (It'll be over $200 by the time I'm done with all the tests and neutering). But if I didn't keep him he'd end up at the Humane shelter and they have sooo many adult cats who need homes

29. Hey, fellow cat lover!
They are absolutely adorable, good for you for adopting adults from a shelter, they so desperately need homes. I have five cats, and I could watch them all day and all night. Especially when they fight over who gets to sit in my lap, lol!

BTW, did you say you were single now? What a coinkydink, so am I! (I know, I know, I'm shameless!)

37. Congratulations!
I lost a cat in a divorce 3 years ago; we'd had her 12 years and it was hard. Fortunately, the house I moved into came complete with 2 delightful adult cats who immediately adopted me and allowed me to move in. I'm still grateful that they let me live here.

Many happy years belonging to Freddie and Jerry!

42. What lovely cats, elad!
They are both quite unusual. I love the orange and white, since you don't see too many with long hair. And Jerry looks like he is playing, already, which is a good sign. I have had my rescue cat for almost two years and she still won't play with me! Congratulations to both you and the kitties. How wonderful that you have found each other!:-)

43. Your Jerry looks like ...
What I'm always tempted to call a 'Boo-Boo' cat. My folks and my aunt and her family, who lived next door when I was growing up, shared a couple of kittens from the same litter, both males (neither neutered, but this was the early sixties in a small, rural town). One of them was all black, the other was a tuxedo cat that looked just like Jerry.

They were born somewhere around the same time I was. Blackie was the black one (my family was so imaginative about naming animals); the tux was called Boo-Boo. Blackie was run over by a car when he was about five years old (I was in kindergarten, I remember seeing him there on my way to school one morning); Boo-Boo, who was more savvy about automobiles, must have lived to be twenty years old. He was feisty when it came to the important stuff (food, females), but he loved people and would sit and let you rub his head for hours. I still remember the old guy -- he's been my gold standard for Tomcats all my life.

At one point last October, the shelter where I volunteer had four cats who looked like that. They all came in within a couple of weeks of each other, and they all were adopted within two weeks of each other. Funny, that.
