Hey MaineMary!!!
Rep. Moody leaves GOP for Democrats (Maine State Legislature)

Tuesday, December 30, 2003
by Susan M. Cover, Blethen Maine News

AUGUSTA — State Rep. Stanley Moody of Manchester switched his party affiliation Monday from Republican to Democrat, saying he wants to make more progress on economic development. Moody said he hoped his move will put him in a better position to achieve some of his goals, including a desire to help small businesses succeed.

"Democratic leadership is on board with that and they are in the majority," he said. "I've got to go where the action is and do the best I can."

Moody's switch does not affect the balance of power in the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives. The House will now have 81 Democrats, 66 Republicans, three unenrolled and one member of the Green Party.

Give Stanley a hug for me, willya!

2. "does not affect the balance of power in the Democrat-controlled House"
That's a line from the story. I hate it when newspapers freep the word "Democratic." Just a little sour note in an otherwise sweet, sweet story.

4. 66 more to go!
The tide is turning? Perhaps ... there must be 1000 other stories like this, of people abandoning the GOP for a dose of sanity.
