My dear mother-in-law cooked most things to death (pasta? you mean it shouldn't be practically disoved?), but one thing she did different than my mom was used whipped cream in her Waldorf salad.

My mom used mayo => :puke:

With whipped cream => :9

1. My mother, rest her soul, was a lousy cook
With some exceptions. She made fantastic spaghetti and meatballs and really good pancakes. Her meatloaf tasted like wallpaper paste and cardboard (I had no idea meatloaf could be yummy until I made it myself) and she could dry out the best roast in creation. God, I miss her.

My ex mother in law made the best gravy on the face of the earth. I miss her too!

Happy Thanksgiving.

4. My mom
was a great cook. I don't think she ever made anything that didn't taste good. She passed down recipes and I do them ok but nothing like her. I don't think she owned a measuring cup.

My mother in law doesn't cook and if she does it is for a holiday. She won't eat anyone's cooking except for hers and a restaurant.

2. My biological-so-called-mother was a boring cook.
You could tell what dayof the week it was by what was served at meal time.

My MIL, so I am told, was a very good cook. By the time I came along she and FIL lived mostly on cold cuts and cheese. I've eaten a few meals that she prepared and they were good - except for the fish she cooked on the Christmas after DH and I were first married. I dang near creid when I found out that the main dish was carp. DH says my cooking is better than hers.

My M-I-L smokes the geef with us, something my mom would never do.
