Ruminating the Future
How many times have you sat a couple of days before New Year's Eve and tried to complete a list of resolutions, and over the course of the year, you started out well, but fell behind and your best intentions flew straight out the window?

There are only so many changes a person can make and really stick to--it's been said that it requires 21 full days to form a new habit, and it's this doggedness that people can't get into in order to make it work. People try to change with the best of intentions, but most never can get that first step going to create a new routine.

One thing people need to remember is this: starting a new project, like losing weight, doing a long overdue project or anything else that requires a steady committment, should never be started during the holidays. There is enough stress present to make it end up being an overwhelming thing, and thus it will likely never succeed.

So.......regardless of all this, what resolutions would you like to start after the start of the new year? Which ones would you love to see come to fruition, and which ones are most likely to fall by the wayside? Are your resolutions personal ones or something you would like to see get accomplished in the world as a whole, and will contribute to some extent to in order to see it happen?

"Every journey of a 1000 miles begins with a single step." We hear it, we understand it, but emotionally, we don't often grasp the concept. In today's world, sometimes, patience is the lost virtue--the one thing which we all pray to have, but then don't put the time into retaining.

Who will accomplish their goals in this new year coming? Who will find themselves lost even more? Who will find that the best laid plans don't always come true? Who will find that "life" is what is happening every single day while you're making other plans?

In another light, while it's great to make plans and try to achieve goals that are slightly out of reach, it's also great to know that every single day, every single minute is something to cherish--something to hold dear and not let go. Some of us have wasted a great deal of time trying to make our tomorrows all wondrous, but forget that today is even more important--it's what you're actually living. It's what you need to examine at length, and hold dear. None of us is here forever, and none of us will know what tomorrow will actually bring. So while planning your resolutions and building new habits is an admirable task, don't forget to remember that each moment you spend on planning your future is a moment you let escape from today.
