banned from a fan forum??? What do you say to this?

I have been banned from another site for being a dissident (it's a music forum that charges to be in the fan club. I stated that paying to be on a fan site is stupid.) This is from the moderater of that site to me remember, I only posted once, using no bad language, or insulting anyone.)

What is your major malfunction??? Public or private, we do not want you on any of our sites, period! I spoke to our lawyer who said that since we have banned you more than once both publicly and privately, we actually can sue your sorry tail next time you decide to park it on any part of our sites. I was hesitant at first because I kind of felt sorry for you or anyone like you who would keep coming back to somewhere they are not wanted AT ALL, however, now, you're really just a nasty little pest, and so whatever it takes to get rid of you is worth it, even if means taking legal action once and for all.

So, Scat now, would ya?

attending concerts. Lately some of the groups she wants to see have initiated ticket "presales" for fans only. Problem is you first have to pay to join the fan club in order to be eligible for the slightly reduced ticket price presale. It's a racket.

Sounds like the letter you received is a form letter sent to anyone the site deems a "disrupter." I wonder if the performer has any idea this is happening. There are so many layers these days between the "talent" and the "public" that the singer/band is either an asshole for letting it happen or completely clueless and in the dark.

17. I run a fan forum and I would NEVER think to charge members

It was after I left a forum that was edging that way. Members who contributed the most money to the celebrity's charity received disgusting public kudos, special perks, and were treated like royalty. Well, we can't all be wealthy patron saints, and I was booted for saying so. That's when I started my own forum. 9 years now, and I haven't looked back.

It's easy to do, not difficult to maintain if you set the access up right, completely legal, and I bet you'd do that jack*ss's paying customer base some damage too.

said that, is this actually the *official* fan site of the band? Seems like they'd hire someone skilled at creating fan sites, and, as others point out, not a site that chases people away. Have you used WhoIs? to find out who registered the site? If the site is charging, and offers pre-sold tickets, but is not a genuine fan site, but something someone's doing out of his bedroom, seems like he could be in trouble.

There are a number of people who's only reason to run, operate or be the moderator of a message board or forum is to act like a little dictator and maybe make some money. Accept it and move on. I got banned from a board for fans of a minor league sports team because the moderator was encouraging people not to renew their season tickets because of her own personal problems with the front office. When I called her on it, pointing out that sort of shit could leave us with no team, she banned me after six years of posting like that.

The internets provide people with no lives their little piece of power.
