So here's the quarterback that Rush thought was overrated:

The Eagles finished 12-4, for their third consecutive NFC East title. And he's in his third consecutive ProBowl.

Huh, guess Limburger really deserved that position over at ESPN.

1. Rush got the ESPN job through Affirmative Action
Obviously White, angry, bigoted conservative males were under-represented.

7. Rush is a moron
I'd say Rush was high, but he actually was, so it wouldn't be nearly as funny. There are several great black QBs.

Michael Vick - might be one of the finest athletes in the league right now. He'll develop into an even finer QB over time.

Steve McNair - One of the smartest, toughest, most consistent QBs around. A great leader, and a great person.

Daunte Culpepper - A fine QB. I don't think the Vikes are the best team around this year, rather disappointing actually, but their demise is not Culpepper's fault alone.

Quincy Carter - Well, he's young, untested, green, but the Tuna seems to have confidence, and he has certainly shown some promise this year.

Warren Moon & Doug Williams - Honorable mention since they're no longer playing. Moon will go down as one of the greatest QBs of all time. Doug Williams led the Skins to the SB and was MVP of that game.

Rodney Peete - endurance...one of the best back-ups a team could wish for.

Rush is just a racist prick. Now the world knows it. Wonder if he actually lost any fans over this and the oxy thing.

14. The Pro-Bowl is the All-Star Game
it doesn't count for anything, but being picked for the team means you're regarded as one of the best at your position.

The Super Bowl is the Championship game of the entire National Football league (NFL). It is played between the champions of the two halves of the league (AFC and NFC).

22. No, it doesn't...
Long story, brace yourself.

Originally, in American Football, there was one 'professional' league, the National Football League (NFL). Occasionally, other leagues would form, only to fold and their best teams joining the NFL. But, in the early 1950's, a new league started, the American Football League (AFL) that was popular enough to challenge the NFL. To eliminate the challenge (and make lots of money), the two leagues combined under the NFL banner, with two conferences: the NFC (the original NFL) and the AFC (Mostly AFL, with some NFL teams switched to make the conferences equal in size). Since each league already had teams across the country, the conferences have nothing to do with geographical area. Now each conference is currently divided into 4 divisions of 4 teams, which do coincide with geographical areas (more or less): North (Northern Central US), South (Actually Southeast, states of the Confederacy), East (Northeast and East Coast), West (everybody else). Because of old rivalries (good for business), some divisions have odd memberships (St. Louis is in the NFC West Division, Miami is in the AFC East...) but mostly it makes sense. The older system had some truly odd combinations...like the NFC West including New Orleans and Atlanta, and the NFC East including Dallas and St. Louis...

So, for current teams (and I love this stuff, can you tell...) we have...

NFC West
St. Louis Rams
San Fransisco 49rs
Seattle Seahawks
Arizona Cardinals

NFC South
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Carolina Panthers
New Orleans Saints
Atlanta Falcons

NFC East
Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants
Philadelphia Eagles
Washington Redskins

NFC North
Minnesota Vikings
Green Bay Packers
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions

AFC West
San Diego Chargers
Oakland Raiders
Kansas City Chiefs
Denver Broncos

AFC South
Indianapolis Colts
Tennessee Titans
Jacksonville Jaguars
Houston Texans

AFC East
New England Patriots
Miami Dolphins
Buffalo Bills
New York Jets

AFC North
Baltimore Ravens
Cincinnati Bengals
Pittsburgh Steelers
Cleveland Browns

Now, if you want to know where the names of the teams come from...

23. All Good, Except. . .
. . .the AFL didn't start in the early 50's. That was a AAFC, from which the Cleveland Browns came.

The AFL's first season, i'm pretty sure, was 1960. They became a major power when a few ultrarich owners started a bidding war for the top college players. Namath came out of Alabama & signed with the Jets for $400k, which is more than 2x what the NFL was offering.

The prior 3 years, the AFL started signing players from the NFL, who were good 2nd string players playing in the wrong system, (like Len Dawson at Pittsburgh), enough money to jump ship.

Two years later, the AFL was signing name players whose contracts had expired from the NFL to the other league. That's how they survived so fully as to merge into the NFL, whole. They, unlike any other competitive league, had the money behind them!

But, all that happened in the 60's, not the 50's.

25. You are correct
in all counts.
I knew that too, and meant to say late 1950's vice early... silly of me.
I was also thinking of the AAFL, who'se best teams merged with the NFL (And won the NFL championship!) in the early '50s...

26. How American Football is organized
The governing body for professional American Football (we'll call it football for the rest of this post) is the National Football League.

The NFL is split into two conferences, the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference. Each conference has four divisions, East, West, North and South. And each of those divisions has four teams.

Now here's where it gets fun: The regular season is sixteen games long. During the regular season, each team plays all the other teams in its conference. Since there are only sixteen teams in each conference, they are scheduled to play two games against one opponent and one game against each of the other fourteen. The team with the best record in each division moves to a semifinal game. The winners of the semifinal games play a conference championship game. The winners of the conference championship games play the league championship game, which is called the Super Bowl.

The stadium for the Super Bowl is announced years in advance; it takes a great deal of preparation to hold one. For instance, the 2008 Super Bowl will be held in Glendale, Arizona. They haven't built the stadium yet, but they're going to hold a Super Bowl in it. This year's game is in Houston. (What happens if Houston wins a trip to the Super Bowl? Pretend the Houston Texans didn't stink. They wouldn't get much of a homefield advantage; football fields are fairly uniform and very few local fans get to attend Super Bowls anyway. So I don't think it would be much of an advantage. I wonder if the NFL would make the Texans rent hotel rooms to take away the "sleep in your own bed" advantage the Texans would have. OTOH, the Super Bowl will be held in Miami in a couple of years; they could make the Super Bowl.)

After the season is over, they choose the best players in the league and play the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

24. I think Rush owes an apology to us Eagles fans
But then again, we won't hold our breaths waiting

Pompus asshole Squealer.

1000 Rush Limbaugh's still won't match even a fraction of the class that Donovan McNabb has shown all years. Sure, football critics had the right to question McNabb's ability after starting the season a dismal 1-3. But questioning McNabb's ability has nothing to do with skin color. McNabb was still recovering from an injury and our team was adjusting to additional injuries and free agent losses. Yet 17 weeks later the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC goes through my favorite city in the world (which is also the home to my favorite football team) - PHILADELPHIA.

Rush, you are slime and you always will be. Don't fool yourself thinking 5 weeks of rehab makes you all clean again because until you learn to stop lying and let go the hate you will be using again by the end of the year. Only a man who so hates himself would abuse drugs in the numbers you were using!!
