Moving event today

We had a schedule fire drill at work today, so we were hanging across the street. A local officer had been gunned down in the line of duty and the funeral procession past us. This was a straight shot from the Capital building in Sacramento to the grave site. I was moved. Hundreds and hundreds of police, fire, EMT, the gov. lt. gov. etc.

1. That's awful - I hope they catch the shooter

I've never seen a police or fire funeral in person, but they seem to be very emotional.

(On a side issue - exactly how effective is a scheduled fire drill? :rofl:)

Mitchell remembered as dedicated officer, family man

Mitchell was gunned down early last Friday morning near Sloughhouse during a seemingly routine vehicle stop on Dillard Road south of Jackson Highway.

The shooter remains at large, though McGinness announced Thursday that investigators had uncovered DNA evidence at the crime scene. They will comapre the evidence to a Justice Department database as part of their ongoing efforts to identify the assailant.
