Gordon Lightfoot!
I'm listening to "Sundown" right now as I type. Does it get any better? That man's voice has such a soothing effect on me. Just WOW..........

1. Sundown,
you better take care
If I find you've been drinking my Labatt's ale.

I swear that's what I thought it was...for years...:silly:

I love Gord's music.

2. I'd forgotten about Gordon Lightfoot by now . . .
He was one of my FAVS in the 70's --- and I got his Gord's Gold as well as his Gord's Gold guitar book. I tortured the heck out of those songs with my icky off-key voice, **always** when no one was listening <<wink!>>

4. Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
gets to me--I can't help it. It really happened and all.

I know that sounds corny.

*heavy sigh*

17. Put that on if you want to clear out a party
"The ship split in half"
And they all drowned like rats"
And their lungs all got filled up with waterrrrrrrr"

Hats off to Richard Jeni for that little jewel.

Sidenote: I do like that song but it is awfully depressing.

12. I saw him in concert in August
He has a little trouble with some of the high notes these days but still sounds good.

15. Someday, I hope this will be true for me...
Oh the prairie lights are burnin bright
The chinook wind is a-movin in
Tomorrow night Ill be alberta bound
Though Ive done the best I could
My old luck aint been so good and
Tomorrow night Ill be alberta bound
No one-eyed man could eer forget
The rocky mountain sunset
Its a pleasure just to be alberta bound
I long to see my next of kin
To know what kind of shape theyre in
Tomorrow night Ill be alberta bound
Alberta bound, alberta bound
Its good to be alberta bound
Alberta bound, alberta bound
Its good to be alberta bound

Oh the skyline of toronto
Is somethin youll get onto
But they say youve got to live there for a while
And if you got the money
You can get yourself a honey
A written guarantee ta make you smile
But its snowin in the city
And the streets and brown and gritty
And I know theres pretty girls all over town
But they never seem ta find me
And the one I left behind me
Is the reason that Ill be alberta bound

Alberta bound, alberta bound
Its good to be alberta bound
Alberta bound, alberta bound
Its good to be alberta bound
Its good to be alberta bound

18. Best of all, I liked his rendition of Bobby McGee. Kris
Kristofferson's version is more mournful, and though he wrote it, I don't like it as much.
