When I was a kid, on Halloween my mom gave out the best treat.

She popped popcorn in oil so the sprinkling of salt would stick. She would take a sandwich baggie and put one cup of popped popcorn in and then maybe 1/8 or so of a cup of regular M&Ms. then close it up with a little piece of tape. It was colorful and almost healthy! Just loose, not a gross sticky popcorn ball. A little candy and some lightly salted popcorn.

I loved the combination, especially the bit of salt after all the mass sugar consumption of the holiday. Since we rarely lived anywhere there were many trickrtreaters, there were allways leftovers. I got those in my lunch for several weeks after. yummm.

walnuts and crumbled Roquefort (Blue) cheese in it. It sounded awful to me but then, I've never tried it!

I am pretty much a purist - butter and salt OR real butter carmel corn. No nuts.

I have accidentally put black pepper on buttered popcorn and that isn't too bad. I can eat cheese corn but really, just butter and salt is the best. Definitely one of my favorite snacks.

Salted popcorn and chocolate go very well together. I like it even better with a real sweet peanut butter flavor, like Butterfinger Bits.
