3. I was 8...

I was on a sleepover at my aunt's, and I remember it being on the news. I just found some old records at my dad's, we use to listen to them all of the time.

4. I remember that hot summer day....

...seeing my mother, just lying on the couch, saying, "Elvis died." Her voice cracked, as she spoke the words. Elvis Presley's music was something my mother and I shared. When my father was in Vietnam she used to take us to see old Elvis movies...it provided us with a strange sense of comfort. I don't know if it was the silliness of some of those movies, or Elvis' soothing voice...maybe a combination of both. Whatever it was, he'll always have a special place in my heart.

I was never a big Elvis fan growing up, but I remember the shock of seeing my mom crying that day. She too used to listen to him when my father was in Vietnam.

I appreciate his music much more now.

I think I was pretty bored but I enjoyed the cartoon.
