2. I feel like I should buy a pair
I've always thought that they were a cool looking shoe and it seems like they are coming back in style big time...but I also don't want to seem like a fashion bandwagon jumper. I know back in the mid 90's they made a modest comeback too and I owned a pair of red ones. I'm going to have to break down and get a pair, maybe for Christmas

13. I had plaid ones back then and I wore flannel shirts all the time.
Because then, it was appropriate even for straight girls to wear flannel.

17. I gotta say...
it's one fashion trend I wouldn't mind coming back in style...because dammit the clothes were so comfortable that and the music rocked too. I will say that they can have my Doc Marten boots when they pry them from my cold dead hands, so I'm not completely "de-grunged"

19. I was grunge in my late teens right before it hit
I wore Chuck Taylors, I used to take bleach and make patterns on 'em and write song lyrics on them. And all else I wore was ripped jeans and flannel shirts or long-john shirts. I didn't even know it was a fashion statement because I went to a junior college where I got shit for my 'lack of wardrobe'...it sucked.

Nike bought Converse and now they make Chucks in China. The price went up too.

Anyhow, cool shoes here: http://www.nosweatapparel.com/index.html

21. Only used
The only way to buy American made chucks now is used. Anything made in the last 5 years is from China

I still have my American made, union made pair from the 90s. Won't be buying another unless they stop making 'em in China and bring the jobs back here.

7. I love my black high tops
and my black low tops

and most of all my purple high tops

but they are all just about worn out and I can't afford new ones. :-(

before my divorce, the ex threw away nearly all my shoes while I was away on a business trip. I guess I should have taken that as a hint. Among the cowboy boots and dress shoes, were pink, red, green and blue Chucks. :-(

11. Even Jesus loves Chucks
I've got red high tops, black high tops, and blue sneakers or whatever you call 'em.

Bummed to hear they're now being made in Vietnamese Nike sweat shops. Mine are old, so they're probably American made.

In black. Accept no substitutes.
Certain things just shout "America!": Coca-Cola, jock jackets, Levis and Chuck Taylors, por examplo.
John
Who'll be buried (cremated, actually) in his Army field jacket (Signal Corps, 1974-76). And a pair of black Chuck Taylor hi-tops.

the only shoe I wear. :)

I have around five pairs that I rotate out. I also have one pair that is one of the last "Made in America" -- they will never be worn, but sit in their original box and paper, only to be admired.

I go through one pair a year, typically.
John
Then the old ones become yard shoes. They really take a beating and I like my "good ones" as clean as possible.

30. Bought my first pair
in "Jerry Buss Purple" while pregnant with my first. (He's a grown-up now). Never paid more than $15 bucks. The kids outgrew theirs, I still have my aging collection of 16 pairs; leather, gold lame, plaid, tie-dyed, special issues... There were some dicey periods when our shoe sizes matched and they'd raid my closet. :grr:

They cost a minimum of 60 here and are now all made in china.
