free republic was just mentioned on Nightline
They were doing a piece on the Dixie Chicks new movie. They talked about the trouble Maines' comments caused for the band, all the vitriol and hatred it brought out, death threats, etc. They mentioned free republic as a place that was stirring trouble. Then they had a freeper spokesman from the site basically saying, don't hang it on us. (I didn't recognize the guy's name.)
