7 Year Old Turned Away From Trick-Or-Treating At Six Flags (She Was Too Tall)

ARLINGTON, Texas -- A Texas 7-year-old was turned away from trick-or-treating at Six Flags because she was too tall, KXAS-TV in Dallas reported.

Victoria Hatfield is one of the tallest kids in her cheerleading class, and at 4 feet 7 inches, her mother said she's taller than most kids her age. Victoria often finds she can't get on some children's rides because of her height.

Employees told her she didn't fit the rules for walking through a Looney Toons maze. Then, they said she could go in, but couldn't take candy like the other kids, according to Victoria's mom, April Hatfield.

"I was completely shocked," Victoria said.

April Hatfield said she understands the park's height requirements and she knows Victoria's height bars her from many of the children's rides.

"For that particular activity, the reaction was totally inappropriate. It shouldn't have height restrictions because it was just trick-or-treating," April Hatfield said.

Victoria said it ruined her day, especially when she saw older kids get in.

"I don't like it when people make me feel really, really sad," she said.

In a statement, a Six Flags spokeswoman said height requirements are in place in the children's areas to ensure the attractions are reserved for younger guests.

In an e-mail sent to April Hatfield, the park's guest services supervisor wrote that there was no excuse for how Victoria was treated at the maze. According to KXAS-TV, the supervisor wrote: "I strongly believe an exception should have been made in your daughter's case."

Both my sons are very tall for their age. It can suck sometimes. My older one had to stop riding kiddie rides when he was 4. Someone snarkily asked me why my 3 year old wasn't in school the other day.

What they did to that little girl was awful. Poor little girl..what a way for those idiots to make her feel self conscious about her height. I had it done to me when I was a kid..just going up to someone's home and this woman demanded to know my age and then said she didn't believe me. I just didn't enjoy trick or treating after that.

By the way, I also give to anyone that comes to my door, including the dogs that may accompany their owners. Of course, they get special dog cookies and not candy.

And she is a tremendous swimmer & baseball player. People always think she is at least 7. I would have gone ballistic if this happened to me.
