Do you know any women who have . . .
. . . intentionally gotten pregnant, or tried to get pregnant under circumstances where the guy thought she wouldn't get pregnant because he thought she was on the pill, or didn't know she was ovulating, or for whatever reason, tricked?

1. I know someone who...
said they were, just to get married.

As far as relying on ovulating..if he doesn't want her to get pregnant, and she doesn't want to or says she doesn't want to, and she says, "don't worry I'm not ovulating", that's taking a great chance.

Wow.

Thanks for your honesty and insight, mad-mommy. :)

3. one in the late 1970s. But I also know a few guys who
lie to women about putting on a condom. One of them will even quickly take off the condom if the woman puts it on for him.

5. Seems it would be reckless to rely on someone else's word

about birth control unless you knew for a fact what the circumstance were.

I used to know a guy who told all the ladies he'd had a vasectomy, but he hadn't. Why they would believe him, I have no idea.

8. I've had 'em outright TELL ME that pregnancy risk was required
if, when and please, the horizontal Tango was to commence. I've been dumb enough to buy the "it's not that time of month" excuse because I was young and short on blood in the higher neural centers.

But to outright try and fool me? Nope. Not really needed; I was fool enough.

12. Yep, my "uncle's" wife.
She wasn't his wife at the time, but she wasn't really on the pill, got pregnant and insisted he marry her. Previously, she had ruined his relationship with his fiance by making shit up about her. Well, she got what she wanted, a doctor for a husband. She's fucked him (and the family) up and over many times since then.

15. I am pretty sure of a person who got pregnant to avoid
having to get a job. Someone who couldn't find a job 'in their field' got pregnant as an excuse not to find any job at all. Their reasoning was it was not worth going to work in a scum job if one was pregnant. I know that reasoning is way off but it was used in the situation.

18. Yes, and I've also known women who have gotten pregnant
not really on purpose, but more with the thought that it could happen and it might solve their relationship problems, but not with the full intention of it happening.

22. My first wife
She was on the pill, and got pregnant anyway. We weren't near ready for such a thing, but once it's done what can you do? So I try to do all the right things, prepare for impending if early fatherhood, and so on.

Somewhere around week 6 she has been acting increasingly weird. I have been taking it all in stride because well, she's PREGNANT. Weirdness and mood swings are allowed. Finally she breaks down and tells me the reason.

She did it on purpose. Just stopped taking the pill without telling me. I'm still not sure why; she gave different reasons at different times and none of them rang completely true. I didn't care, we had a baby on the way. The genesis of it was water under the bridge, it HAD to be. For the baby. For us.

She miscarried some weeks later. That also seemed to occur under somewhat suspicious circumstances but it's not the kind of thing you challenge. Doing so means divorce, sooner or later, so you don't do it unless that is what you are sure you want.

Two years later I was in the Navy and she left me for a used car saleman in Milton, Florida. I tried to get back together with her when I got transferred to Sicily, but it wasn't going to happen. A year after that the JAG calls me into his office to tell me that she has filed a complaint against me for not paying her support. The JAG is ready to throw the book at me for not supporting my wife. So I produce the papers proving that I had divorced her via a proxy in San Juan, Puerto Rico shortly after arriving in Italy. I was actually rather frightened that the whole proxy divorce thing wasn't quite legal but the JAG said it was all kosher.

And, aside from some "sex for old times sake" that took place in Daytona Beach, that was the end of that chapter of my life.

over the years i've just decided that it's part of being human and the complicated dance we all do when we're involved in love.
