"I was babysitting my daughter all weekend"
This was said to me by one of my salesmen this morning, a married guy whose wife is going to nursing school.

I said, "Excuse me?"

Him: "I was babysitting my daughter."

Me: "Babysitting? You were getting paid?"

Him: (somewhat confused) "No, I wish I was."

So I finally explained, as nicely as I could, that this was HIS KID! You don't babysit your own kid - you babysit someone else's. He was being a parent, for crying out loud!

Major pet peeve for me. I've been a mother for 26 years and I have NEVER referred to what I do as babysitting. :grr:

Luckily, he realized I was right. He's a nice guy, just unimaginative.

1. With my ex....
..."our kids" were always "your kids" (mine) whenever they got into trouble or whenever she wanted to get drunk and not be responsible for anything.

2. I have heard fathers refer to that before
and it pisses me off too.
I have responded "So you were taking care of your parental responsibility?"

"No I can't go anywhere this weekend because it's not his week to have the fucking kids"

6. Yeah...ladies night or where ever she wanted to go...
...was her top priority that weekend. It was a phone conversation of a coworker I overheard. She wasn't being sarcastic either with whoever was on the other end, she was pissed.

9. eh, I can see that
I stick the f word into every other sentence, it doesn't mean she doesn't love her children.
