4. what christmas?
was up almost half the night coughing and sneezing. The medication to stop that has given me an irratic heartbeat. We are staying at home to keep from spreading the 'bug' around. Most of our family is on the west coast and we haven't seen them for about 12 years.

2. I'm about to make roasted potatoes with garlic and rosemary
which I have never made, to take to a friend's house for dinner, so I'm neurosing about that and whether to peel the potatoes and how much garlic to put in and whether to take the asparagus I bought, thinking I'd throw it in with the potatoes but have since decided not to, or plan on eating three pounds of asparagus by myself.

OK, here I go. Everybody have a nice day.

5. quiet and sad
I called my mother and my stepfather answered. He didn't know who I was and couldn't remember later on in the conversation. It looks like he won't be around much longer. My husband and I are going to IL this weekend for a surprise visit. A lot of family baggage there, and it will be, to say the least, interesting. I'm seeing today as a calm before an emotional storm.

7. Got up early
to sing at the Christmas morning service after being up past midnight to sing at the Christmas Eve service. Considering that the whole choir, the director/organist, and the clergy were on the same schedule, the morning service went remarkably well.

Stopped off for coffee on the way home.

Taking an e-mail break with one eye on a local public television program about Scandinavian-Americans (I am one, and yes, I'm in Minnesota.)

After leaving DU, I'll make the salad I'm supposed to take over to my mom's house for dinner.

8. I was really surprised to see so many on DU today
Fortunately all my family except my son and his wife live here in town.

As we have done for many years, we ate dinner and opened presents last night at my brother's house.

My mom will be 91 in February and has been living in an assited living apartment since she fell on 2 consecutive days in September.

One of my brothers, his wife and mother-in-law, and I celebrated with mom at the facility's Christmas party last week.

Our 20 yr old's best friend called to wish us a Merry Christmas. Not the best connection, but just hearing his voice on the other end of that line made our day.

one edit: connection - 2 n's - forgot the new spell check feature.

12. It's okay
Our dog is sick though and she keeps leaving "special" presents around the kitchen :puke: . My husband went to work an hour ago (he's in the medical field) and I'm taking a little break right now before I get back to board games with the kiddos. It's been a hard week, but hopefully, things will be getting better.

14. It's been fantastic!
I'm as full as a tick, and burdened with a veritable king's rason of presents; shortly Tony and I will begin the trek home with a hamper full of goodies and leftovers. I've just returned from teaching my little cousin how to ride the bicycle he got as a Christmas present, and all is well with the world. :)

15. Going okay
We had tickets to the noon showing of "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" but when we got to the theater, it was so crowded that the only seats we could find were in the very first row, all the way to the right of the screen, so we couldn't see anything. We left and got tickets for the 2:40 showing, which we're about to leave for. Hopefully we'll have better seats.

Unfortunately, even my being Jewish isn't going to stop a big family gathering that's planned for Saturday. Sisters, nieces, nephews, and all of the adults are right-wingers. I'm hoping none of them have seen my web site as they'd really hate me for it, because, frankly, it's pretty offensive.

I didn't exactly get what I wished for, bet hey, the kid next door got a new go-cart(off road). Didn't take long for him to tear up his backyard. I took a litle ride, and he was :freak:ing me out a little bit.

22. Just the family
My wife, my son and my brother-in-law.

Simple Christmas. Eating very well, doing a lot of dishes (my hands hurt)

We're enjoying being together for a while. My wife and her brother looked through albums of old family pics..........lots of nice memories for them.

Ran out of beer a little while ago and went to the Walmart Superstore to pick up some more. Surprise! Walmart was closed. What is this country coming to when you can't exploit your workers or grab the last available retail dime on Christmas day?

All-in-all, it's okay.

30. My daughter came in on the train last night
Wonderful! And the train was only 15 minutes behind schedule (no freights running last night or today)

Everyone had a wonderful time, no disagreements, and my GF's B-n-L even said "He ought to be impeached!"
