Do you believe in personality types?
What i mean is, do you believe that at least some aspects of people's personality are fixed at birth? If so, do you have a system you ascribe to (i.e astrology, myers-briggs, enneagram)?

Me-- i was skeptical until i read a somewhat cheesy book called The Color Code, by Taylor Hartman, that was freakishly accurate. It's based on four basic types, with elaboration... I'm the "white" type-- peace-loving and independent!

So... tell me about it!

1. I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner I'm a saint....

I don't really ascribe to any system, but I definitely believe that aspects of personality are fixed at birth. I think personality is more nature than nurture.

12. I love that tune...
especially when Mel Gibson's trying on pantyhose to it. }(

And I agree, it's more nature than nurture. Though nurture plays an important role, it can't change your brain chemistry.

2. I don't know about "fixed at birth"
but I believe in the ability of a test like Meyers-Briggs to give an accurate snapshot of your personality type.

For anyone knows Meyers-Briggs code, I'm INFP. When I first read this assessment after I took the test, I was amazed at its accuracy.

4. I think they're an interesting way to describe

personalities. I enjoy the M-B stuff myself. And they can give a person some insight as to how they come across to other people.

I don't consider them ultimate authorities though, we all have free will. As to the nature/nurture thing, some tendencies we are born with, but I think it's our environment that we grow up in, esp care when we are babies, toddlers that determines how those tendencies get expressed or controlled.

I'm INTJ on the M-B scale if anyone's interested.

edit: M-B is useful b/c knowing your type, you can learn to develop/pay attention to your weaker traits to further enhance relationships.

5. I am a classic Scorpio
and I don't know if reading the characteristics of Scorpio fixed those aspects stronger in my personality or they were already fixed there because of me being a Scoripo.

I'm going to look for that book.

7. Anyone who has had more than one child...
...knows that some personality traits are fixed at birth. Two (or more) kids, same parents, yet completely different in how they react.

I don't know how much of someone's personality is genetic, but I am positive at least some of it is. I don't have any "system" I believe in, as I think "personality" is far too complex to categorize, much like "intelligence". Maybe someday we'll figure it out but we don't have the knowledge or technology yet.
