Star Trek question: Are there any Enlisted Personnel?
I've never noticed anyone below an ensign.

14. Chief's aren't enlisted -- he's an NCO
They've shown them before, but very, very rarely as a "real" character. I believe Picard was one in his "alternative life" plot. Wasn't Reg Enlisted, too?

17. Noncommissioned officers are enlisted
Now, chiefs can eat lieutenants and ensigns for breakfast, but guess who salutes first.

20. Actually, at one point in DS9
O'Brien actually says he is enlsited personnel while talking to Bashir (I think)

24. I remember that
I believe Worf's dad also spoke the classic "Don't call me sir; I work for a living."

Complete geek here. :hi:

3. They're pretty rare - the ratio seems to be around 10 officers to
every crewman (made-up estimate). I think those yellow-shirted security guys who follow Worf around are enlisted personnel, and maybe some of Geordi's peons are...

ie who cleaned up after all those officers.

4. Yes, according to the Star Trek Blueprints
It's just that we always saw the bridge, transporter room, and other happenin' places on the ship, so we saw mostly officers.

5. Yeah, but they all get killed
Every time there's a landing party to investigate something, it always has two nameless enlisted crewmen who get attacked by a flying gob of Gumby shit or something and die.

You'd think they'd catch on, wouldn't you?

And why is it the ship's top officers are always in a landing party and outnumber the plebes three to one?

"Right, how many did we lose?"

"Gawain..."

"Ector..."

"And Bors. That's five."

"Three, sir."

"Three."

7. Are they on the Starship Clueless?
Condi--"Captain, everyone has abandoned ship after we ran it into that asteroid on purpose! Who could've foreseen that?"

Capt. Oblivious--"Ah'm hungry. When's the pig gonna be ready?"

Really nasty orange uniforms. Bad, very bad. You could tell on TV they were sewn together by the lowest bidder.

22. Nine Reasons Why a Starfleet Education Won't Prepare You for the Real Navy
Reason #1: Unlike Starfleet, where the ratio of officers to enlisted personnel is roughly 100:1, and where the only apparent purpose of enlisted personnel is to provide anonymous crew members to be killed by alien life forms, the Navy is highly dependent on the expertise, skills and efforts of its enlisted members.

25. Something for the "I kid you not" file
When I was a TI (recruit wrangler), we had one eager young space cadet tell us she enlisted because she wanted to live just like they did on Star Trek.
