I am embarassingly prissy and wimpy.
Sure I may like to fight and cuss and handle pythons, but this scene just unfolded in my bedroom:

I'm sitting on my futon bed, watching "Rescue Me" with the iBook at my side, when a GIANT MOTHERFUCKING SPIDER LANDS ON MY FUCKING ARM!!!!!!!!

I scream and starting jumping up and down while flailing. After what seems like forever, I run off the futon. I do not see the GIANT MOTHERFUCKING SPIDER on my futon. I resume flailing and strip, because the GIANT MOTHERFUCKING SPIDER might be lurking inside my shirt or something.

I'm wearing different clothes now and the offending one's are in the wash. I'm sleeping on the basement couch tonight.

it's a normal reaction. 'cause spiders can hurt you if they are poisonous. Spiders don't bother me too much, unless they get on me like that one got on you.

I'm sure spidey's gone back to his nest and is cavorting with hundreds of stickly, clinging spiders just his size or bigger. And you know where that nest is located, don't you?

A woman who has no fear of snakes totally loses it over a spider!

They are usually gentle, non-venomous and respond to affection. Not to mention amazingly cool.

What man could resist a woman herpatologist who keeps lizards and flails around and strips at the very thought of something with eight legs?

Should I ask her to marry me? Probably not. Apart from the sexual issues, she won't like my spiders and my fascination with cockroaches would freak her out......

my wife is friends with a former Green Beret and all-around tough-ass who is ABSOLUTELY freaked out by spiders. If somebody put a tarantula in his house, he'd probably shoot it with a 12-gauge, furniture be damned.

For my wife, it's roaches. She says it's something about the way they move.
