Guys in their BOOM-BOOM cars
My opinion is still unchanged. It's a "PLEASE LOOK AT ME!" thing.

The main two facts, at least from my observances including today:

1. I've never seen any woman or young lady to this day riding by herself in a car going BOOM-BOOM

2. I've never seen a guy in a BOOM-BOOM car with a girlfriend

This morning one young fella' in front of me in line even made sure he left his BOOM-BOOM crap going while he walked into the store to pay for his $1.25 in gas and one cigar with loose change.

1. .....
My mom and I rode in a boom-boom car once, on the way home from a concert. Just the two of us. It was a wonderful moment.

2. I rode around in my juvenile days listening to heavy metal....

...at full blast, with or without my girlfriend. Now....I don't think blasting NPR with MrsDTW riding beside me would be the same.

Might get some attention though :hi:

3. If we'd have had today's audio technology
when I was a young'un, we would've blasted Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Alice Cooper...

But, back then, a 20-watt 8-track stereo was a boomer, and Jensen 6x9 Triaxials were "da bomb."

6. Hey, I even remember the type
It was a Muntz 880 under-dash. Five watts per channel.

First tapes I had were Chicago at Carnegie Hall, vols. I and II.

You wouldn't be able to carry these on an airline anymore

5. 20 watts with a pair of Jensen Triaxs used to put out some good sound
It's actually more than I have put together in all my cars combined I think. The wife's Toyota pickup is all factory AM/FM, CD, cassette, 4 speaker, and sounds great.

Sounds like we had the same record collection OR, add some Grand Funk Railroad :hi:

9. And that's a bad thing?
But I feel that way now about most of the 80's hair bands I used to like. I saw Grand Funk around '98, with Mark, Don and Mel, and they sounded exactly the same as they did 30 years ago which is the way I like it. I hate seeing an old band that has maybe one or two of the original members and their songs sound like poor cover tunes from a totally different band

10. There is no shortage of BOOM-BOOM cars in my neighborhood.
There are many young Hispanic males here that blast their Latin music.

12. I've seen ladies in cars giving guys BOOM-BOOMs
And let me say, the driver ought to stick to driving... it's not safe, for more reasons than one...

15. My son calls it "doo doo music"
because the "singing" that accompanies the BOOM-BOOM sounds like they are trying to work out a serious case of constipation.
