I'm bullish on screw threads
Edited on Tue Oct-03-06 09:26 PM by Ptah

I can't decide if coarse screw threads

http://shopswarf.orcon.net.nz/unc.html

or extra fine screw threads

http://shopswarf.orcon.net.nz/unef.html

are my favorite

But I do know how to measure

8. Her birthday was pretty good. She told me she loves me too.
I made some chicken flavored with, among other spices,
some of the jalepenos from the garden where the sunflowers used to live.

13. Geez - I always thought screws were just simple metal
corkscrewy things - I didn't know they had names for all the parts and special angles and stuff...

(Getting metaphysical for a moment: it's a cool feeling when something apparently simple opens up and has unexpected complexity - it's like opening a window you didn't know was there...)

14. It repeats throughout the mechanical components we encounter.
Here is an illustration showing proper measurement of a screw thread.

The neat thing is the micrometer that is used to measure the
screw thread uses a precision screw thread to determine the dimension

And the machines that make screw threads are filled with,
you guessed it, screw threads.

Kinda like fractals.

15. Fractals was what I was thinking of:
A simple thing turns out to have a lot of complexity, and all the simple elements that make up the complexity turn out to have their own internal complications. The world is a very cool place...
