Just got my MP Holy Grail Collectors Edition
Whoo boy, I can't wait till Christmas! Amazon just delivered the box set. It includes a real cel from the film, the entire film in Japanese with English subtitles, and the entire film animated with Legos.

But, in reading the fine print and features on the back, I noticed they weren't even straight here, either...

=== (abbreviated list...)===

DVD Special Features Include...

- High Definition Widescreen with pink frilly edges!

- Subtitles for people who don't like the film, taken from Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part II

- Enlightening commentaries from Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, plus general complaints and back-biting by John Cleese, Eric Idle and Michael Palin.

- Extraordinary animated menus with very loud surround sound.

- How to Use Your Coconuts, an educational film.

Hmmmm...if I verrrrry carefully open the shrinkwrap with a razor blade............

1. Arrrgh. I just bought the "no frills" DVD of Holy Grail
Now, I'll have to somehow rationalize buying it again.

2. But if my High Definition Teevee is black-and-white...
how will I know for sure the edges are pink? Oh, frilly is no problem, it has a digital comb frill filter for enhanced frilly things.

3. so what exactly is in the "load of rubbish"?
I'm curious!

I saw it at the video place last month and was sorely tempted. Maybe next year.

Actually, there are some films which are perfect for DVDs ... the Monty Python gang (and Terry Gilliam in general) seem to be much better suited to this than some other movies are.

Or maybe it's because they seem to put a lot of thought into what to include, as opposed to just slapping on the movie, with maybe the production accountant muttering something in the background!
