When the Yippies invaded Disneyland.
Now I remember what this latest brouhaha reminded me of.

Back in around 1970 a pack of anywhere between "several" and "20,000" extra-wild yippies descended on Disneyland to protest nukes, Vietnam, Nixon, etc. They sacked Tom Sawyer's Island, liberated Minnie Mouse, hotboxed the Haunted Mansion, gave Goofy acid. You know, the general yippie schtick.

It ended up being a PR disaster for Disney who had to evacuate the entire park and close early. Because those yippies were "yelling obscenities at the children" (according to Disney).

You know, it just struck me that this would be much easier to do today. Back then they knew it was coming and they stopped most of the yippies at the gates. These days with internets and cellphones it'd be all much easier to coordinate sort of a falsh mob type thing. I mean, if you could find enough young angry people willing to spend the entrance fee and a night in lock-up.

Not that I'd ever advocate the horrendous crimes of trespassing and malicious mischief. I'm just hypothesizing.
