Every time I watch the news I'm reminded why I hate to watch the news
I saw this story:

A Howard County gunman goes to court hoping to have his criminal record expunged. However, the man he shot shows up too, to make sure that doesn't happen.

The gunman in this case was 16 when he pulled the trigger and left an immigrant from El Salvador paralyzed.

Now, Ricky Clement is 22 and want's his criminal record cleared.

But his victim wants something too.

<snip>

He had been hoping to hear an apology from the gunman who left him permanently paralyzed.

<snip>

But what Antonio finds more aggravating, is that Clement has never shown remorse.

"No, he has never told me he's sorry," said Antonio Lopez-Sanchez, through an interpreter.

"What are you suppose to do, walk up and say sorry? The man can't understand english, so how you suppose to say sorry?" said Clement.

:wtf: This SOB wants his record EXPUNGED, despite the fact that he shows absolutely no remorse for shooting and paralyzing a man. Worse yet he refuses to apologize to the man because Mr. Lopez-Sanchez doesn't speak English?!?!?!

I say F*ck you Ricky Clement!

1. sadly that is the norm rather than the exception
having lived in D.C., and with relatives living in Baltimore, i seen worse attitudes about crime and punishment....

not to sound callous, but the one consolation is that Clement will probably be a victim of a similar crime, or he will find another way to end up in jail regardless

2. With an attitude like that I'm sure he will
And I, for one, won't feel one bit sorry for him.

4. Well,
Maybe the writer is a graduate of the much maligned Baltimore City school system? (donning flame retardant suit....)

5. Is our children learning?
Regardless of the school. "No Child Left Behind" is utter bullshit -- yet it's the best the Bush administration could do. Quelle suprise.

7. not only that
but the story here is sadly lacking for facts....for starters, was his record cleared or not?

and what were the circumstances? was it a robbery? a heated altercation? a random act of wanton violence? or just an accident?

10. It was a bank robbery
The original story, no longer available it seems, stated that. It didn't reveal the outcome of the case (I'm guessing no decision had been reached at the time the story was aired).
