7. "Merry Christmas" - Johnny Mathis
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 05:48 PM by trof

OK...since you asked.

Back in the day...early 60s...we had a Christmas party at the frat house (DKE, U. of AL) just before we left for winter break.

In addition to private stock, we served a big bowl of French 75 Punch.

This Champagne cocktail is named after the French 75-millimeter gun used in World War I. It was first made with absinthe, Calvados and gin. This version with Champagne may have first been served at Harry's New York Bar in Paris.

* 6 Tablespoons gin
* 1/4 cup Cointreau
* 1-1/4 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
* 6 thin strips of lemon peel
* 1 bottle chilled Champagne (brut)

http://frenchfood.about.com/od/apritifdrinks/r/french75.htm

Ours was not quite so sophisticated. Something like chilled (cheap) champagne with a frozen citrus ice block floating in it, liberally dosed with either vodka or possibly grain alcohol (190 proof).

Of course the objective was to get everyone (especially the females) as drunk as possible in the shortest time period.
Back than booze was the only thing we had to lower the inhibitions.

About a couple of hours into the festivities, somebody would put Johnny's Christmas album on the Hi-Fi.
Yeah, this was even before stereo.
:-(

It was said you could hear the panties hit the floor all over the house.
I know...I know...PIG!!!

It was another time, another mindset, and a WHOLE 'nuther culture.
Now you know why I can never run for public office.
Too many skeletons.
;-)

15. I Can’t get enough of your love, babe - Barry White
I’ve heard people say that
Too much of anything is not good for you, baby
But I don’t know about that
As many times as we’ve loved
We’ve shared love and made love
It doesn’t seem to me like it’s enough
There’s just not enough, baby
There’s just not enough
Oh, oh, baby
Uh-uh

My darling,
I Can’t get enough of your love, babe
Girl, I don’t know, I don’t know why
I can’t get enough of your love, babe

Works for me!

47. With perhaps the sultriest lead-in ever
Etta James's At Last

At last
my love has come along
my lonely days over
and life is like a song

Ooh At last
the skies above are blue
well my heart was wrapped up in clover
the night I looked at you

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I
could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

ooo yea
you are mine
you are mine
at last
at last
at last
at last

"In Your Eyes" Peter Gabriel.

All girls of a certain age remember John Cusack holding up a boombox outside of Ione Skye's window and playing that song. It was the height of romantic to use that song in the late 80/early 90's.

81. Sarah McLachlan's "Possession"
Listen as the wind blows
From across the great divide
Voices trapped in yearning
Memories trapped in time
The night is my companion
And solitude my guide
Would I spend forever here
And not be satisfied

And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I’ll take your breath away
And after I’d wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear

Through this world I’ve stumbled
So many times betrayed
Trying to find an honest word
To find the truth enslaved
Oh you speak to me in riddles and
You speak to me in rhymes
My body aches to breathe your breath
You words keep me alive

And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I’ll take your breath away
And after I’d wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear

Into this night I wander
It’s morning that I dread
Another day of knowing of
The path I fear to tread
Oh into the sea of waking dreams
I follow without pride
Nothing stands between us here
And I won’t be denied

And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I’ll take your breath away
And after I’d wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear

**************************************************************
a kiss that takes your breath away.... sounds like make-out material to me.

82. "It Hurts To Be In Love" by Gino Vanelli
If you can get past the emotional ambiguity of the lyrics, the vocals and instrumentation are sultry as hell.

Close the deal: Anita Baker, "Rapture."

88. We have a winner!
That's just about the sexiest album around, as far as I'm concerned.

Peter Gabriel's Passion is pretty good too if you're looking for something a little more exotic -- but as far as sultry rock n'roll Greg Dulli et al are hard to top!

92. Gimme Some Head by G.G. Allin works for me
And for a lighter change of pace, "Sit On My Happy Face" by John Valby is real good.

You guys think I'm just being a wise-ass. No sir. Not I. I shall tell you young whippersnappers a tale and every word of it will be true. The first time my ravishing bride and I conducted serious face-sucking and tongue gymnastics was during the Nazi film they showed Alex in "A Clockwork Orange." The next time I saw her, two days later, we watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (And yes, that is the night we got engaged.)

So yes, Gimme Some Head is, in our case, a suitable make-out song.
