I also regularly check craigslist for macs. I'm going to be in the market for a decent ibook myself soon.

they come w/ a warranty, AND you can buy an extended warranty - always the best route w/ laptops IMHO http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleS... I have a Macbook Pro 17" I luurve.

Check your phone book for a Mac repair shop. Sometimes people don't pick them up if the repairs are more costly than they had hoped for. They would rather abandon it & put that money down on a new one.
I've bought several things from repair shops over the years.
