5. One of my favorite things to use, next to duck fat
Though I know goose fat is supposed to be the ultimate, I've never cooked a goose, so never have any.

But I do try to keep bacon and duck fat handy in the fridge.

Some things are just way, way, way better cooked in bacon or duck fat.

11. And green vegetables - peas, green beans, greens, brussels sprouts...
all are so much better in bacon or duck fat, even than better, and certainly more than olive oil or that totally unusable "vegtable oil".

9. That and a cast iron skillet are all you need to make perfect cornbread.
Oh, and the cornbread batter itself, of course.

Bacon grease is also essential if you want cream (white) gravy done correctly, and with LOTS of black pepper. Yum.

13. OH god
Just the thought of it makes me sick. I remember as a child
my mother use to take bread and dip it in the skillet and eat it.
She called it Panomie.
Funny thing.................she lived to be ninety.

Keep it in a small squirt bottle in my car's glove compartment and if anyone tries to approach my car either to bum a ride or rob me again, I will spray them in the face and put my zippo up to their face. Hope it works if I ever have to use it. About 4 years ago had the windows down on my car in the summer time because the AC was broke, It's about 1 am and I'm on my way to work, I'm at a red light some drunk comes up demanding a ride, windows down and he's coming through it so I take a big wrench out of my tool bag and hit him square between the eyes he backs off and I drive away.

20. Even if you don't like it,
save it to pour over your dog's dry kibble in the wintertime. If he stays outside a lot, he needs the extra fat to keep warm, and it will make his coat shiny. (Also, the dog will be eternally grateful, as they LOVE the taste!)
