my 26 pound feline namesake "Skittles" passed away tonight

he was just six years old....Tombo rushed him to the vet after he found him in distress......he spend the evening at the vet's and passed away there after a few hours......the vet does not know what it was. In all my life I never knew a cat who enjoyed being a cat as much as sweet Skittles did.

30. he had a severely dislocated leg when we took him in

he was walking on three legs, you could see the bone - the vet put a rod through his leg and he wore a cast for a few weeks. I tell you once that cast came off he was off and running and never looked back - and he found his true calling as a farm cat. Out every day, on the go - always having fun, without any of the really strange cat behavior. It always struck me he just seemed to have a lot of fun being a cat. :)

Growing like a weed. :-) Healthy and playfull ... very playful.

He's doing very well, in good health, and is adjusting, slowly, to the rules of the house which basically involve not tearing up my computer desk. He also has this thing for digging in the trash, a leftover bit from his homeless days. He's getting better with that, as long as there is no leftover chicken or tuna in there.

He looks like an overstuffed version of our KB (kitty bitch) who also revels in being a cat. Her favorite trick to get even with me is to lay on the computer monitor and wave her tail in front of it. Or she gets on my guitar when it's on the bed or screws up the antenna on the radio if we're listening.

But she's still a great cat. And she only does these things when we are not respecting her properly.

98. I'll tell you Skittles' favorite trick

he was allowed to roam the farm but Tombo made him come in nightly due to coyotes. He'd call Skittles and Skittles would come to withing ten feet of the house and then collapse in the grass, forcing Tom to go get him and pick him up (no easy feat) and carry him in the house. Tom would complain and Skittles would purrrrrrrrrrrrr. :)
