I can't find my stamps.
A few months ago, I bought a book of stamps, even though I only wanted one. They sat around my computer for a long time. Now, I need to mail stuff.

I just spent 20 mins looking. My stamps have vanished into thin air.

On the other hand, I did find:
Pocket UNO on a keychain
My wrought iron and pearl earrings
A batman figurine
A california raisins figurine
A transformers comic book
My missing rent receipt
$0.34
A coupon for $10 off when I spend $50 at the Bay, Zellers or Home Outfitters.

So I guess my search wasn't entirely wasteful.

Ever find anything interesting and totally unrelated while franticly searching for some seemingly necessary or important item?

3. I usually can't remember what I originally was looking for
and find myself standing stupidly in the middle of the room with some object in my hand asking "what the hell is this?"

4. Did you ask St. Anthony?
Patron Saint of Lost Items.
Funny, but true, I usually find things within five minutes after thinking of St. Anthony. The one exception was, ironically, a book of stamps, that I think I accidentally threw away. Even St. Anthony cannot help when things are irrevocably lost.

However, now I was able to quickly find my copy of the legendary "Stand on Zanzibar" by John Brunner and also the cool and apropo quote on page 5 -

"Arthur Golightly doesn't mind not being able to remember where he put things. Looking for them, he always finds other things he'd forgotten he had."

Story of my life. Whatever I am looking for, suddenly becomes hard to find. If I saw my hammer half an hour ago, and then wish to use it, invariably I cannot find it, and I scream to myself - "I just frigging saw it, where the zarq was it?" Which probably makes it a good thing that I live alone because if somebody else was in my house they would either be moving my junk around or I would always suspect that they had.

12. Sure-fire, 100% guaranteed way to find your stamp book:
Buy stamps to mail your stuff.

When you get back home, the aforementioned book will show itself to you in the most visible place possible. Perhaps on the kitchen table.

16. I put my stamps in the envelope box. I still lose the envelope box, but
it's about 800% easier to find.

Just a thought. They might also be on a dresser, under some papers and hair stuff.
